Goldberg proposed that if guns were treated with the same logic as abortion in Texas, private citizens could sue people who sold an AR-15 at a gun show or “call the cops” on anyone with “too big an arsenal” of guns. Digging deeper into her abortion comparison, Goldberg said, “let’s invoke some Supreme Court logic, too. Alito says abortion is not in the constitution? Well neither are AR-15s, so I guess the constitution doesn’t cover them, either.”

As she continued, “Life is so sacred? Then stop using guns to abort young lives,” co-host Joy Behar cut in to urge viewers, “Stop voting for republicans,” but Goldberg disagreed, replying, “No, don’t stop voting for republicans. But get better republicans in there.”

Goldberg also said she believes people can still own a gun, “but you can’t have your AR-15.” She continued, “If you’re gonna get all in my business and tell me what my family can and cannot do, neither can you. They’re gonna come for those AR-15s, and you better get ready to give them up. Because this is America. We were supposed to be able to do things and be the people we wanted to be, and now we are in a crazy place.”

Lamenting the lack of action since the Sandy Hook shooting 10 years ago, Goldberg said, “We are allowing things out there that kill children, and you didn’t do anything the last time. You’ve done nothing since Sandy Hook. I think it’s time for the people to say, ‘We’re gonna take this to the courts and we’re gonna make you give these guns up, because you don’t need to have them.’”

I have been a firearms enthusiast since the 1980’s. I am a law abiding citizen with a permit to carry. While school shootings break my heart as a father and a man, I can’t understand why some people think confiscating and banning my firearms will prevent future tragedies. Punishing innocent people for the crimes committed by others is not a solution. Perhaps stiffer penalties for people convicted of gun crimes? Criminals will still have guns no matter what laws we pass. We have “hands free” laws but people still text & drive resulting in injuries and deaths. Do we ban automobiles or cell phones? Perhaps both. If we ban cars, phones, and alcohol will tragedies be stopped? Better mental healthcare would be a good start. You can’t legislate common sense, or morality.

@jc. . . Your “mindless” posting of ludicrous dis-proven FOX talking points should be embarrassing to you. This worn out BS about cars and texting is nothing short of tripe because those things are “REGULATED” and they have absolutely NOTHING to do with our need for gun safety regulations!

Not to confuse an indoctrinated FOX cult member with the “facts”. . . but “REGULATED” (as it says in our constitution) gun ownership of “LESS” guns per capita has “PROVEN” to greatly reduce gun murder rates in other countries:

The world over, mass shootings are frequently met with a common response: Officials impose new restrictions on gun ownership. Mass shootings become rarer. Homicides and suicides tend to decrease, too.

After a British gunman killed 16 people in 1987, the country banned semiautomatic weapons like those he had used. It did the same with most handguns after a 1996 school shooting. It now has one of the lowest gun-related death rates in the developed world.

In Australia, a 1996 massacre prompted mandatory gun buybacks that saw, according to some estimates, as many as one million firearms melted into slag. The rate of mass shootings plummeted from once every 18 months to, so far, only one in the 26 years since.

Your insulting reply should embarrass you. I do NOT watch FOX News, and I have never, ever been in any cults. I didn’t say that regulating cars, cell phones and alcohol was related to gun safety. I was making the point that regulating those would save lives. People like you are the exact reason that NOTHING will ever get accomplished in this country. Some of you alleged adults can’t have a rational discussion without name calling, and finger pointing. Please try to remember that estimates are not facts. You guessed that I am a FOX fan because I enjoy firearms, so you are incredibly judgmental and completely wrong! I also notice you had no reply to my comment about mental health. You were too focused on my cars comment, and your insults. The way to change is through understanding both sides of a debate, and a rational conversation. Perhaps when you grow up you will be able to experience a meaningful conversation.

“How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion:

    1. Mandatory 48-hour waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he’s about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence…

    2. Close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun.

    3. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun.”

If we really cared about the right to life, this is what we would do.

@zy. . . exactly how is it a false equivalency? Simply because this has been passed around the internet does not automatically invalidate the idea!

These are the awful hoops that women must go through to access currently legal abortions in some states! The complete hypocrisy by Republicans is undeniable!!!

          • Sherry says

@ot. . . therefore, your point about women is?

I’ll make a point with this question. . . How many women have used a horrific war machine to commit mass murders of the innocent in schools, churches and grocery stores?
