James Michael McGill, a 33-year-old resident of 16 Kaywood Place in Palm Coast, was arrested Thursday on 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and booked at the Flagler County jail on $150,000 bond.

Tornado warnings woke up Flagler County residents in two locations Wednesday morning, at 2:45 a.m. and shortly afterward, but “there was no sign of touchdown anywhere in Flagler County reported to us,” Flagler County Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord said. The county remains under a tornado watch until early afternoon.

A Leon County circuit judge has dismissed Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office from a lawsuit filed by the Washington Post over access to DeSantis’ travel records. Judge J. Lee Marsh this week issued a nine-page ruling that said DeSantis’ office is not the “custodian” of disputed records held by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The ruling did not dismiss the case against the law-enforcement agency.

Flagler County’s financial rating continues to improve, which is reflective of an improving economic climate and a stronger financial position in the county. The Flagler County Cultural Council is proud to announce the creation of five scholarship awards for graduating high school seniors from the Flagler County school district, each in the amount of $5,000 for students with a career path in the arts.

A Free Heart Screening Detected a Local Student Athlete’s Potentially Fatal Heart Condition

In 2023, Brogan was one of 1,500 students in Volusia and Flagler counties who took part in AdventHealth’s free annual program that provides electrocardiogram (ECG) screenings, a common and painless test used to quickly screen the electrical conductivity of the heart, in addition to state-required physicals for student athletes. The screening revealed that Brogan was at risk of sudden cardiac arrest, which led to a life-saving surgery.

Palm Coast United Methodist Church is pleased to invite the public to the ribbon cutting of their new campus on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be refreshments, tours, children’s activities and fellowship. The new campus is located at 6500 Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast.
