Friday, Saturday, Sunday: “[title of show]” opens at City Repertory Theatre. This 2006 Obie winner is a musical about the creation of a musical. With music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and book by Hunter Bell, the cheekily titled show chronicles their struggles to create a work to enter in the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Just as cheekily, the duo say their work is “a postmodern homage to the grand tradition of backstage musicals like ‘Babes in Arms,’ ‘Kiss Me, Kate’ and ‘A Chorus Line.’ ” Starring Caitlin Eriser, Frank Anello, Phillipa Rose and Beau Wade. 7:30 p.m. October 13-14 and 20-21, 2 p.m. Oct. 15 and 22. $25 adults, $15 students. Friday: Movies in the Park: 7:15 p.m. in Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast. Families will enjoy a family friendly movie on the park’s giant outdoor movie screen. Closed captioning is provided. This month’s feature: Norm of the North (PG). Bring your blanket, lawn chairs and snacks and invite your friends and neighbors to join you at this free, monthly family activity offered by Palm Coast Parks & Recreation and Flagler Schools. Saturday: “Saturday Evening With the Artists” at Flagler County Art league galleries. Free fine art, food, wine and wonderful music by the Flagler Youth Orchestra Quartet. These musicians are the cream of this fabulous string program here in Flagler with some 400 students involved. Saturday: In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine is hosting a special evening tour (Originally scheduled for October 21) for a special look at soldier life in the Castillo during the First Spanish period (1565-1763). There will be three nighttime candlelit tours of the fort covering this period in history, with each lasting roughly 45 minutes. Tours depart from the ticket booth at 6:15, 7:15 and 8:15 pm. Nonrefundable tickets are available, on a first come, first serve basis, and may be purchased on or after September 30 at the ticket booth or by calling (904) 829-6506 ext. 239, Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Space is limited. The cost is $10 per adult ages 16 and up, $5 per child ages 5 to 15, and children under 5 free. For questions, please call (904) 829-6506 ext. 233.

Saturday: Jazz It Up: Eirinn Abu, saxophone musician comes to Palm Coast by invitation of the Palm Coast Arts Foundation — performing Saturday, October 14 – Grand Haven River Club (500 Riverfront Drive, Palm Coast (enter from second entrance, the main gate), $50 PCAF members; $60 general public; buffet dinner included. 6 to 9 p.m. call 386-225-4394 for tickets (limited seating).

Saturday, Sunday: The Pellicer Creek Raid: A Civil War Re-enactment: The Florida Agricultural Museum will present the 8th annual “Pellicer Creek Raid Civil War Reenactment” on Saturday and Sunday, October 14th and 15th, from 10 am until 4 pm. The program will involve a number of living history groups from around the southeastern United States. Approximately 150 infantry, artillery, and cavalry troops will stage two battles. Battles will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm. When the participants are not on the battlefield, their historic camps will be open to the public from 10 am until 4 pm, to illustrate other aspects of military life in Florida circa 1864. Friday, October 13th, has been set aside for school groups by reservation from 10 am until 3 pm. Students will visit with the re-enactors for demonstrations of military camp life and weapons demonstrations. School group admission is $3 per person.

Sunday: Pink Army 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk, raising Money for Breast Cancer Awareness, Education and Screening. Race starts at Florida Hospital Pink Army 5K start – 7:45 a.m. One mile pet friendly walk also available. Information and registration here.

Veteran’s Day is a month away and we hope to Cover The Wall at the Supervisor’s office in honor of Flagler County veterans. Any registered voter in Flagler County who has served in the US Armed Forces may provide a service photo for display on the Veteran’s Wall in the Elections Office lobby. The following information will accompany the photo:

Food Assistance, Oct. 11-15: The Department of Children and Families (DCF), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), will implement the Food for Florida Disaster Food Assistance Program in Flagler and St. Johns counties to assist individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Irma from October 11- October 15. To qualify for the Food for Florida Disaster Food Assistance program, applicants must have lived or worked in one of the counties declared for FEMA Individual Assistance on September 5, and not be receiving food assistance through the regular Food Assistance Program. Additionally, eligible individuals and families must have suffered a disaster-related loss, such as damage to their homes or self-employment property, loss of food, reduction or loss of income, or have incurred other disaster related expenses. DCF will provide or mail Electronic Benefits Transfer cards to eligible individuals and families to use at authorized USDA food retailers. The program counts only income and expenses from September 5 through October 4, 2017. Individuals are encouraged to fill out the initial application for assistance online no later than the day before visiting the Food for Florida site. The application is available on the Food for Florida website, myflfamilies.com/fff. The Food for Florida disaster food assistance program for Flagler and St. Johns counties will take place: AT THE ST. AUGUSTINE FAIRGROUNDS, 5840 STATE ROAD 207, ELKTON OPEN 8 AM- 7 PM.
