The Flagler Beach City Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. The commission will again consider terminating its lease with Flagler Golf Management, the company running the troubled Ocean Palms Golf Course at the south end of town. The commission is also expected to amend its downtown parking regulations in such a way as to lift restrictions on businesses that want to build or expand: minimum parking requirements will be lifted.

The Palm Coast Beautification and Environmental Advisory Committee meets at 5 p.m. at City Hall in Town Center. The committee will be discussing Lehigh Trail repairs.

Bombing runs Navy training schedules indicate that inert bombing will take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex located in the Ocala National Forest today from 1 to 9 p.m. During bombing periods wildlife may be temporarily displaced. Use extra caution when driving through the Ocala National forest and surrounding areas. Secure any items around your residence that could attract wildlife. Always be mindful of larger animals including black bears and practice bearwise measures.

The Wadsworth Elementary School Advisory Council and PTO meet at 6 p.m. in the school’s media center.

The Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament gets under way with preliminary rounds at the Palm Coast Tennis Center, 10 a.m., 1290 Belle Terre Parkway. The Palm Coast welcomes tennis stars of the future to this annual tournament at the Palm Coast Tennis Center. The two week event includes fast-paced competition, a special Kids Day and ProAm event to meet and shoot around with the players. Ticket information is available 386-986-2550.

“Smokey Joe’s Cafe” at the Flagler Playhouse: The show highlights the best rock ’n roll tunes of the legendary songwriting duo of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. This musical revue showcases such numbers as Yackety Yak, Charlie Brown, Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, Love Potion #9, Stand By Me and many more. So bring a date and come to the greatest singalong that Flagler Playhouse has ever seen, featuring nearly 40 of the best songs ever recorded. Flagler County Citizens Academy now taking applications for February 27 start: Flagler County government is accepting applications for its Spring 2018 Citizens Academy program, a free ten-week course introducing participants to the day-to-day operations of Flagler County government. Registration is free, but class size is limited to 30 and applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis. The spring classes will be held on consecutive Tuesday mornings, 9 a.m. to noon beginning February 27. Each week participants learn about responsibilities and operations of County departments, such as Land Management, Economic Development, and Fire Rescue. Locations include the 911 center at Emergency Operations, the control tower at the Executive Airport, and the Lodge at Princess Place Preserve. Citizens Academy is also an opportunity for attendees to interact with staff and ask questions on topics that range from code enforcement to senior day-care to the property assessment process. The final session – which includes a Q&A roundtable with the county commissioners – will be May 1, 2018. A graduation ceremony on Monday, May 7 at 5 p.m. will recognize the 14th Citizens Academy class, during a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. HOUSE HOLDS FLOOR SESSION: The House is scheduled to hold a floor session at 1:30 p.m.

PSC CANDIDATES INTERVIEWED: The Florida Public Service Commission Nominating Council will interview candidates for a spot on the state Public Service Commission and select a list of nominees. (Wednesday, 7 a.m., 37 Senate Office Building, the Capitol.)

JUDGE HEARS MARIJUANA SMOKING CASE: Leon County Circuit Judge Karen Gievers is scheduled to hear arguments about whether she should dismiss a challenge to a new law that bars patients from smoking medical marijuana. Florida voters in November 2016 passed a constitutional amendment that broadly legalized medical marijuana in the state. The Legislature in June approved a law to help carry out the amendment and included a ban on smoking marijuana. The law allows marijuana to be used in other ways, including by allowing patients to vaporize, or “vape,” marijuana products. But Orlando attorney John Morgan, who largely bankrolled the medical-marijuana legalization drive, filed a lawsuit in July contending that lawmakers violated the constitutional amendment by barring smoking. BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEETS: The state university system’s Board of Governors will meet after holding committee meetings. Among other things, the board will consider confirmation of the appointment of Larry Robinson as president of Florida A&M University and will receive updates on presidential searches at the University of North Florida and the University of Central Florida. (Thursday, committees start at 8:30 a.m., followed by board about 11 a.m., Florida State University, Turnbull Conference Center, 555 West Pensacola St., Tallahassee.)

SUPREME COURT RELEASES OPINIONS: The Florida Supreme Court is expected to release its weekly opinions. (Thursday, 11 a.m.)
