In Flagler and Palm Coast:
Note: all government meetings noticed below are free and open to the public unless otherwise indicated. Many can be heard or seen live through each agency’s website.
The Sheriff’s daily incident reports and jail bookings are posted here.
The Flagler County School Board holds a workshop at 5 p.m. in Training Room 3 on the third floor of the Government Services Building, Bunnell. The workshop will go over upcoming approvals, including a $400,000 purchase of iPads for students from kindergarten to 3rd grade. Funding for this project is from the half-penny sales tax approved by voters for the specific purpose of increasing access to technology in our schools. Devices for grades kindergarten through second will be placed in centers and replace existing outdated macbooks. Devices for third grade will be placed into carts replacing outdated macbook carts and will be shared per classroom. Board members will also discuss a contract with Bethune-Cookman University for dual enrollment students, tuition-free, as well as with Embry-Riddle University and the University of Florida. Also on the agenda is the $71,000 contract for the Flagler Youth Orchestra ($19,000 of which is underwritten by orchestra fund-raising).
The Flagler Beach City Commission and its Planning Board hold a joint meeting at 4 p.m. at City Hall on the city’s Comprehensive Plan–its blueprint for long-term development–to hear from the public. Today’s meeting focuses on the environment, coastal conservation and recreation and open spaces. This meeting will allow the planning team to gather input from the community and stakeholders on Infrastructure and intergovernmental coordination. All interested persons are invited to attend. For more information contact Larry Torino at [email protected] or 386-517-2000 x230.
The Palm Coast City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall in Town Center. The council is expected to approve the next phase of a traffic signal “optimization” plan that has so far cost over $500,000. The next phase is for $200,000, including the cost of traffic-surveillance cameras at 22 intersections. The council is also expected to approve management agreements at the troubled Palm Harbor Golf Club, with a management company and with the owners of the Golden Lion, who will run the golf course’s concessions and bar.
