Chamber education summit: State education, business and non-profit leaders are expected to attend a “Learners to Earners Education Summit” hosted by the Florida Chamber Foundation. Wednesday’s speakers are expected to include Cissy Proctor, executive director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity; Education Commissioner Pam Stewart; and Madeline Pumariega, chancellor of the Florida College System. (8:30 a.m., Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel, 1 Grand Cypress Blvd., Orlando.)

Gov. Rick Scott and members of the Florida Cabinet will meet and take up numerous issues, including a proposed deal that could help conserve more than 6,000 acres of agricultural land in Polk and Hardee counties. (9 a.m., Cabinet meeting room, the Capitol.)

Water standards: The 1st District Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear arguments in a dispute about controversial new state water-quality standards. Florida Pulp and Paper Association Environmental Affairs, Inc. challenged the standards, which were developed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and approved last July by the state Environmental Regulation Commission.
