The Palm Coast City Council holds a special workshop to decide the fate of City Manager Jim Landon, whose tenure appears to be drawing to an end after 10 years, and how to proceed finding the next manager. A majority of council members say they are prepared to fire him. The workshop, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 9 a.m. at City Hall in Town Center.

Matanzas High School Freshman Orientation is at 6 p.m. at the school.

The Palm Coast Democratic Club meets at 6:30 p.m. at the African American Cultural Center, starting with a social half hour with the meeting proper at 7 p.m. The discussion will focus on immigration and implementation of the Trump Muslim ban. The guest speaker is Rheinhold Schlieper, former Embry Riddle faculty member and current Volusia/Flagler ACLU Board Member and AACS officer.

St. Augustine’s Summer Concert Series, in the Plaza de la Constitución, 7 p.m., Park downtown, and come on down rain or shine – the only way you know if it’s cancelled, is to be at the Plaza (or wait for the post on social media). This evening’s concert: The Session, Great American songbook jazz.

New Smyrna Beach Shrimp and Seafood Festival, 5 to 9 p.m. Local restaurants setup stations along the street to offer tastes of their best seafood dishes, priced between $3 and $5. More than 30 restaurants will compete for the “Best on the Beach” awards. There is also live entertainment, merchant booths and more. This block party is a family friendly event.

Property taxes: The Revenue Estimating Conference will analyze ad valorem, or property, taxes. (9 a.m., 117 Knott Building, the Capitol.)

The Florida Public Service Commission will hold a regular meeting, followed by a special meeting to consider proposed water and wastewater rate increases for customers of Utilities, Inc. in Charlotte, Highlands, Lake, Lee, Marion, Orange, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Seminole counties. (Regular meeting at 9:30 a.m., followed by special meeting, Betty Easley Conference Center, 4075 Esplanade Way, Tallahassee.)

Medicaid: The Social Services Estimating Conference will discuss the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage, or FMAP, a formula that helps determine how much federal money will be available for the state Medicaid program. (1:30 p.m., 117 Knott Building, the Capitol.)

Low-income pool-health care dollars: The Agency for Health Care Administration will hold a meeting about the Low Income Pool, or LIP, program, which provides extra money to hospitals that care for large numbers of poor and uninsured patients. From WQXR: “Over the course of his short life, Mozart composed an incredible amount of music. But he didn’t write for all ensembles equally. Trumpets, for instance, freaked him out, and so there’s a dearth of music for that instrument in his catalog. He only wrote one (that we know of) and it’s since been lost. While we’re sure he didn’t harbor a fear of string instruments, he only managed to complete one string trio, too.”
