Senator Travis Hutson and Representative Paul Renner are the guest speakers for the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce’s Common Ground Breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn at 8 a.m. Registration begins at 7:45AM and the presentation starts at 8AM. Cost for Chamber members is $25 with advance registration and payment or $35 the day of the event. Guests may attend for $35 with advance registration and payment or $45 the day of the event. The Flagler Beach City Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Its agenda includes a second reading of an ordinance that would ban medical marijuana dispensaries anywhere in town. Commissioners voted 3-2 on first reading to adopt the ban, triggering much opposition. The commission will also consider several budget-related items, including setting a proposed property tax rate ceiling.

The Flagler County Stamp and Coin Club holds it monthly meeting. Doors open at 4:30 pm. The first 90 minutes are set aside for buying, selling and trading stamps and coins. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 7:30 pm. There is a live auction of stamps and coins at the end of the meeting. The club is open for members, the general public, and all who are interested in stamp and coin collecting and investing. Free stamps and coin evaluations at all meetings. FCS&CC is the only non-profit Stamp and Coin Club, Inc., in Flagler County. St. Augustine’s Summer Concert Series, in the Plaza de la Constitución, 7 p.m., Park downtown, and come on down rain or shine – the only way you know if it’s cancelled, is to be at the Plaza (or wait for the post on social media). This evening’s concert: The Dunehoppers, Blusegrass, folk, old-time.

Section of St. Joe Walkway to close temporarily for reconstruction

An approximately ½-mile section of St. Joe Walkway – one of Palm Coast’s most popular trails – will be closed beginning Monday, July 24, to allow for reconstruction of the multi-use pathway. The portion to be closed is from eastbound Palm Coast Parkway to the Intracoastal Waterway, in the vicinity of Canopy Walk. Detour signs will be posted for bicyclists and pedestrians, taking them on a nearby trail route to Palm Harbor Parkway and the Hammock Bridge trailhead. Access along the Intracoastal Waterway between Hammock Bridge and Waterfront Park will remain open for now. However, as the project progresses, a portion of that section of the trail will be closed temporarily. The pathway must be reconstructed because it has cracks and damage from tree roots. City of Palm Coast crews will do most of the work, and then the repaving will be done by Halifax Paving. The project is expected to take several weeks. The City of Palm Coast appreciates the patience to trail-users as we complete this important trail reconstruction project. For more information, call Palm Coast Customer Service at 386-986-2360.

Communications tax: The Revenue Estimating Conference will discuss issues related to the communications-services tax and gross-receipts tax. (9 a.m., 117 Knott Building, the Capitol.)

UF Trustees: The University of Florida Board of Trustees and the board’s Committee on Educational Policy and Strategic Initiatives will meet. (10:30 a.m., University of Florida, 123 Tigert Hall, Gainesville.)

Importance of libraries: State Sen. Aaron Bean, R-Fernandina Beach, is expected to discuss the importance of reading and libraries during a closing party for a library summer learning program. (3 p.m., South Mandarin Branch Library, 12125 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville.)
