The Flagler County School Board holds a morning “retreat” to discuss its goals, starting at 8:30 a.m. at Legacy House, at the Princess Place Preserve. It holds a 3 p.m. workshop in Training Room 3 on the third floor of the Government Services Building, Bunnell. The board is expected to discuss its policy on religious expression in public schools. The board then holds a 6 p.m. special meeting to approve a donation to Bay County schools. As Bay County continues to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Michael the District recognized it had several high mileage buses in its inventory and determined the loan of three of these buses to Bay County would be of benefit and great assistance to Bay County. On November 1, 2018, two 89 passenger buses and one 11 passenger handicap bus were transported to Bay County to assist the District in restoring operations by having operating buses to transport students.

The Palm Coast City Council is in workshop at 9 a.m. at City Hall in Town Center. Council members will get an update from FPL on streetlights, and are expected to discuss the approval of a development plan for Airport Commons, the commercial parcel across from Bulldog Drive that for a time had caused acrimony and the threat of a lawsuit by palm Coast of the county.

The Bunnell City Commission meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 201 West Moody Boulevard, City Commission Chambers, Building 3. Commissioners are expected to approve on second reading a new ordinance imposing restrictions on panhandling in the city, mirroring a similar ordinance in St. Augustine.

The Flagler County Affordable Housing Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. in the Financial Services Conference Room, 1769 E. Moody Blvd., Bldg. 2, Third Floor, Bunnell.

The Flagler County Planning and Development Board meets at 6 p.m. in Board Chambers at the Government Services Building, 1769 E. Moody Blvd., Bldg. 2, first floor, Bunnell. The board will hear one application: doubling the size of Captain’s BBQ at Bing’s Landing, to the north of the existing, 2,274 square foot building.

The Flagler Beach Planning and Architecture (or PAR) Board meets at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 105 S 2nd St.

The St. Johns River Water Management District Governing Board will meet after holding committee meetings. Committees start at 9:30 a.m., with full board tentatively scheduled at 11 a.m., district headquarters, 4049 Reid St., Palatka. The board is expected to get an update on Flagler’s wetlands reclamation project, which has drawn substantial opposition from Flagler Beach. Bob Pickering, weather specialist at Flagler County Emergency Management, is the speaker at the Hammock Dunes Association’s meeting at 7:30 p.m., Hammock Community Center, 79 Mala Compra Rd. Learn how our Emergency Services Department does hurricane tracking, severe weather forecasting, and alerts from our own, very charismatic Bob Pickering.

National Rifle Association’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program (Pre-K & Kindergarten children), at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy, 4:30 p.m. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and Palm Coast Parks & Recreation are partnering in the program. No actual firearms will be used. Free but please pre-register at www.parksandrec.fun/youth. More info: 386-986-2323. The NRA’s Marion Hammer developed the controversial program in 1988 as gun-safety education.

Flagler Beach Thanksgiving: Mayor Linda Provencher is currently collecting cash donations to help feed Flagler Beach residents this Thanksgiving. The Palm Coast Lions Club is pleased to announce the club’s new Board of Directors and Slate of Officers. The installation banquet was held at the Columbian Club (formerly Knights of Columbus). The Club’s secretary Ken Crowley installed the officers. The Palm Coast Lions Slate of Officers and Directors for the 2018-2019 Lion Year are: Joe Langello – President an Treasurer, Stan Niedzwiecki – First Vice President, Ken Crowley – Secretary, Ralph Johnan – Tail Twister, Don Green/Rev. Gerry Laird – Chaplain, Wayne Gile –Immediate Past President, Andy Dodzik, Shel Reichard and Janet Fonseca – One Year Director, and Gerry Laird and Betsy Ryan – Two Year Director. The Membership Committee consists of Chair Wayne Gile and member Mike Ryan. Langello’s goal as president is to increase membership by 10 new members each year and to bring in some younger members. The club plans to stay involved in the community with Paws for Patriots, White Cane Days, providing free eye exams and eyeglasses to those in need.

Audition Call: Flagler Playhouse’s “A… My Name is Alice”: Audition dates/time: Monday, December 3 and Tuesday, December 4 @ 6:30 pm at Flagler Playhouse. Looking for 5 talented females to play multiple roles in the musical, “A… My Name is Alice”. Voice types needed: 2 sopranos, 3 altos. Ages: 18 and up. The Rotary Club of Flagler County is looking for bands and musical groups to perform seasonal music at the Fantasy Lights in Central Park, Palm Coast. The free event featuring lighted displays around the lake, Santa’s Village, Train rides for the kids also has a nightly live performance of seasonal music at 7 p.m. each night for the month of December. The music is carried throughout the park and Rotary provides some sound equipment and lights.
