In Court: Charles Rushing Griffen, the man involved in a masked robbery at the Shell station on Clubhouse Drive in Palm Coast in December, appears before Circuit Judge Dennis Craig at 9 a.m. for a possible plea. He faces a first-degree felonies for the charges of armed robbery and attempted armed robbery, and three additional felonies, including possession of a gun by a convicted felon.

The Flagler County Technical Review Committee meets at 9 a.m. in the First Floor Conference Room of the Government Services Building, Bunnell.

The Tourist Development Council meets at 10 a.m. in board chambers at Government Services Building, Bunnell.

Collective Bargaining Contract Negotiations Between Flagler County Professional Firefighters Association and Flagler County Commission Management Representatives, 1 p.m. in the administrative conference room, third floor, Government Services Building, Bunnell. The meeting is open to the public.

The Palm Coast Planning & Land Development board meets at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall in Town Center. The board is discussing Grand Landings, a subdivision master plan at Sawmill Creek within Palm Coast Park, and flooding issues. The full agenda is here.

Bunnell Elementary’s School Advisory Council meets at 6 p.m. in the school’s media center.

Citizenship Ceremony: Flagler College and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services will hold a Naturalization Ceremony at noon in the Lewis Auditorium, 14 Granada Street, St. Augustine, opposite the Lightner Museum, for approximately 50 individuals as part of the college’s Inaugural Week for new President Dr. Joseph G. Joyner. Joyner, who is the fourth president in the history of the college, began work in July 2017. His inauguration on Feb. 24 is being celebrated with a week of activities centered around the theme of “Citizenship in a Diverse Democracy.” As part of that week, the Naturalization Ceremony will involve approximately 50 people taking the Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America, thereby completing the process of becoming a U.S. citizen. The ceremony will take place at noon and is open to the public. Dr. Joyner will give the welcome address, and naturalized citizen and Associate Professor of Education Edwidge Bryant will give the keynote address. Naturalized citizen and Flagler Head Men’s Soccer Coach John Lynch will offer closing remarks, and the Flagler College Chamber Choir led by Assistant Professor Kip Taisey will perform the national anthem.

Gordon Lightfoot in Concert at the Peabody Auditorium, Daytona Beach, 8 p.m.. Tickets range from $33 to $48. The Peabody Auditorium is at 600 Auditorium Boulevard, Daytona Beach. Suicide Prevention: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Florida Chapters, Florida Suicide Prevention Coalition, Florida Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention, and Florida Suicide Prevention Coordinating Council hold a press conference at 11 a.m. on the 22nd Floor of the Capitol in Tallahassee to bring awareness to suicide prevention. In 2016, there were 3,122 suicides and 1,292 homicides in Florida. Every year in Florida and in the U.S. there are twice as many suicides as homicides. The press conference will feature Thomas Joiner is a leading expert on suicide and the Robert O. Lawton Professor of Psychology at Florida State University, and John Bryant, Assistant Secretary for Substance Abuse and Mental Health at the Florida Department of Children and Families. Live and inert bombing: Navy training schedules indicate that live and inert bombing will take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex located in the Ocala National Forest, which may rattle windows in Palm Coast and Flagler County. The schedule is as follows:

• Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Inert
• Wednesday: 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m., Inert
• Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Inert

During bombing periods wildlife may be temporarily displaced. Use extra caution when driving through the Ocala National forest and surrounding areas. Secure any items around your residence that could attract wildlife. Always be mindful of larger animals including black bears and practice bearwise measures. David Lydon to host ‘Veterans on Point’ radio show: Flagler County Veterans Services officer, David Lydon, will host a WNZF radio talk show called “Veterans on Point.” “Lydon is the perfect host for this local radio talk show with his vast knowledge, his network of local veterans organizations, and his position with the county,” said David Ayres, general manager of Flagler Broadcasting. “Plus, he is still actively serving in the United States Air Force Reserves.” The first program will air at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, March 4. The radio show is designed to give local veterans a voice – and a listen – to many issues and challenges that veterans and their families face, including information about the Veterans Administration and special events. Guests to the program will include local, regional and national entities that focus on Flagler County’s veteran community. “This is a first for me,” said Lydon, who has been a guest on the Free-for-All Friday WNZF radio program. Lydon holds the rank of major as part-time United States Air Force Reserve squadron commander, 927th Security Forces Squadron, at MacDill Air Force Base. Additionally, he is president of the Military Officers Association of America, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8696, and the American Legion Post 115. The program will air 9:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday mornings on 1550 AM and 106.3 FM. It will also stream live at WNZF.com, as well as on Google Play and Amazon Echo.

SENATE WEIGHS NEEDLE EXCHANGES, GUN BILL: The Senate will hold a floor session and could approve a bill (SB 800), filed by Minority Leader Oscar Braynon, D-Miami Gardens, that would expand a pilot needle-and-syringe exchange program to try to prevent the spread of diseases such as HIV. Also, the Senate could vote on a bill (SB 1048), filed by Sen. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, that would help clear the way for people with concealed-weapons licenses to carry guns at churches. People cannot currently carry guns at churches if schools are on the grounds. (Wednesday, 10 a.m., Senate chamber, the Capitol.)

EARLY CHILDHOOD COURTS PROPOSED: The Senate Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Subcommittee will consider a proposal (SB 1442), filed by Sen. Lauren Book, D-Plantation, that would create the “Early Childhood Court” program, which would address cases involving children under the age of 3. (Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., 37 Senate Office Building, the Capitol.)

INSURANCE ‘PARITY’ ON TABLE: The Senate Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee will take up a bill (SB 1422), filed by Sen. Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg, that would seek to ensure that HMOs and health insurers provide “parity” in benefits for mental health and substance abuse and benefits for medical and surgical care. (Wednesday, 4 p.m., 401 Senate Office Building, the Capitol.)
