The Flagler Youth Orchestra Performs in the Palm Coast United Methodist Church’s Concert Series at 4 p.m. Sue Cryan will conduct the Flagler Youth Orchestra’s Harmony Chamber Orchestra. The concert will be held in the sanctuary of Palm Coast United Methodist Church at 5200 Belle Terre Parkway. A freewill donation is encouraged. This concert is made possible in part with a cultural arts grant from the City of Palm Coast. A reception with the members of the orchestra will follow the concert. Saturday: The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach hosts walkers and running on the tarmac and taxiways at the Flagler Executive Airport for its annual nighttime 5k fundraiser. The event takes place at 6 p.m. at the county airport, 201 Airport Road in Palm Coast. Walkers and runners interested in participating in the 5k can visit, www.flaglerbeachrotary.org to register. The cost is $20 for walkers and $30 for timed runners. All participants will receive a collector’s medal. This year’s medal is a B-25 airplane. There will be a free pizza party after the race as well as a ceremony to recognize winners. Saturday: A Celebration of the Life of Lisa E. McDevitt, the executive director of the Flagler Auditorium who died on Jan. 21, is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Flagler Auditorium, 5500 State Road 100 Palm Coast. Lisa’s family will gather to greet friends from 4:30 p.m. on Saturday until the time of services in the lobby of the Auditorium.
Saturday: Stetson Piano Scholars in Recital. Palm Coast Residents’ Survey: Palm Coast residents have until Feb. 2 to take the 2018-2019 Palm Coast Citizen Survey, which may be taken online here. The city is conducting the survey as part of its annual goal-setting process. The survey covers a variety of topics related to quality of life; city services such as stormwater drainage, street maintenance, garbage, recycling and streetlights; recreational programs and events; amenities such as parks, trails; economic growth and development; traffic flow; and crime prevention and public safety. Flagler Beach Is Open For Business: A1A Construction Update:
FlaglerLive is providing weekly updates to year-long construction on and near State Road A1A in Flagler Beach as the Florida Department of Transportation rebuilds a 1.5-mile segment from South 9th Street to South 22nd Street, and builds a sea wall at the north end of town. These updates are provided through DOT or local officials. If you have any relevant information or images, you’re welcome to email them to the editor here.
January 24 update: The project team had anticipated beginning construction this week on S.R. A1A. However, the work is pending some utility relocations, which have not yet been completed. The project is now delayed to February. According to a city official, “February 4th is the new start date when the 300 day clock starts. Road work(no detours) will start sooner at the north end beginning approximately the second week of February with detours on the southern stretch starting in late February/early March.”
The contractor has 300 days to complete the work.

U.S. 1 and Old Dixie Highway Roundabout Construction Updates:
FlaglerLive is providing weekly updates to the planned 15-month, $4.1 million construction of a roundabout at U.S. 1 and Old Dixie Highway. The project started in late January and is scheduled for completion by spring 2020.
This week southbound U.S. 1 will be reduced to one lane and be shifted slightly west onto new pavement. Southbound U.S. 1 traffic heading to Old Dixie Highway will be directed to stay on southbound U.S. 1 and make a U-turn to return to Old Dixie Highway using northbound U.S. 1. Old Dixie Highway drivers heading to southbound U.S. 1 will have to turn onto northbound U.S. 1 and make a U-turn to access southbound U.S. 1. Later this week, northbound U.S. 1 will be reduced to one lane and shifted west onto the existing southbound side of the roadway. Once this shift is made, U.S. 1 will have one lane in each direction through the project area. The speed limit will be reduced along U.S. 1 through the construction zone, and drivers are asked to be alert and use caution when traveling through the work area.

Scholarship Applicants Wanted: The Flagler Woman’s Club will award multiple $2000 scholarships to male and female graduating seniors in all areas of study including Theatre, Art, Music, and Trade Schools. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen; a resident of Flagler County for a minimum of one year; have a financial need and qualify for acceptance to a college or a trade school. BROWN APPEAL HEARD: The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments in a challenge filed by former Congresswoman Corrine Brown after she was convicted in a charity scam. Brown, a former 12-term Democratic congresswoman from Jacksonville, was convicted on fraud and tax charges related to her role in using contributions to the One Door for Education charity for personal expenses and events. In the appeal, Brown contends that a juror was improperly dismissed from her trial. The dismissal came after the juror made statements such as the “Holy Ghost” told him Brown was not guilty. Prosecutors, however, argue a district judge acted properly in replacing the juror with an alternate and disputed that the decision violated religious rights. (Friday, 9 a.m., Elbert P.
