A Waste Pro garbage truck’s hydraulic line broke as it was driving east on Palm Coast Parkway early this morning, forcing a shut-down of the road for two and a half hours just as rush hour was beginning.
No one was hurt, and no other vehicles were involved, authorities said. “They ended up closing the road down just to get the road cleaned up,” Palm Coast Fire Chief Mike Beadle said.
The incident took place around 6 a.m. The road was shut down just east of Belle Terre Parkway. Traffic was diverted to Pine Cone Drive until 8:30 a.m., when the road was re-opened. The leak stretched about 75 yards, mostly in the center lane of the three-lane road, which required absorbant to be put down then removed.
Waste Pro has been providing garbage and recycling services for Palm Coast and Flagler County for the past five years. Palm Coast just renewed the company’s contract for an additional five years.
A call was placed to Waste Pro in Bunnell but had not been returned by the time this story posted.

Are you kidding???? These trucks leak constantly. If you don’t believe me, take a look at the streets after they pass through.

Not taking a position pro or con, but from a realistic, unbiased standpoint, this shotgun blast comment is a frivolous knock. Leaks on the street do not mean they are hydraulic fluid; realistically, it could also be rainwater or any type of liquid thrown into the garbage by customers….think half empty bottles of soda or whatever.

Garbage would wash off in the rain. This lasts for weeks until it wears off.

Speaking of hazardous chemicals ,I just read Meekers brillant idea about how to pick up hazardous materials from peoples houses , apparently he`s too lazy to put his old oil in a sealed container , he wants to spent 517.00. dollars on a 55 gal drum and make the guys driving the truck pick it up in what ever the hell he drained it out of his car into and have them carry that to the truck and dump it in into the drum , aside from how long that would take the drivers to do , I can already here the complaints by people saying they spilled it all over their driveways, I can t believe this idiot is making decisions for himself , let alone a city , no wonder this town has gone to hell in a hand bag
