Free For All Friday on WNZF: Guest-host Brian McMillan welcomes Palm Coast City Council member Bob Cuff, Flagler County Centennial Committee co-Chairman Carl Laundrie, and Flagler County Sheriff Chief Spokesman Mark Strobridge. The show begins with a commentary by FlaglerLive Editor Pierre Tristam on Donald Trump’s proposed tax cuts.

Friday: Music Under the Stars: City Market Place business owners have collectively come together to host a free Jazz Concert for the public at 7:30 p.m. The Jazz Concert will feature the Flagler-Palm Coast High School Jazz Band and is a fundraiser for the band. All sponsoring businesses will also have an Open House from 6 to 7 p.m. There will be free giveaways, prizes and a raffle drawing. The Flagler County Sheriff’s office will provide free fingerprinting of children. We would like to invite all Flagler County residents to join us for a wonderful evening of music under the stars.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday: “A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum,” the musical by by Stephen Sondheim, Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart at the Flagler Playhouse is in the midst of a three-weekend engagement. In exchange for his freedom, a crafty slave struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan for his young master. Sondheim’s joyous musical romp through Rome includes desperate lovers, scheming neighbors, mistaken identities, and secrets behind every toga. Friday, Saturday, Sunday: “John and Jen,” the musical, at City Repertory Theatre in Palm Coast, is the story of a brother and sister’s relationship over time. The first act portrays Jen and her brother John growing up in the 1950s and ’60s, and their increasing estrangement: As Jen falls under the spell of the counterculture and the Summer of Love, she morphs into a drug-dabbling hippie chick. John yields to the dominance – and abusiveness – of their stern father and joins the Navy, and he’s promptly shipped off to Vietnam. The second act flashes forward in time: Jen is a 20-something single mother raising her newborn son, whom she has named John after her brother. As son John grows up, Jen’s suffocating parenting threatens to alienate him and drive him away. The play closes out City Repertory’s season: at 7:30 p.m. Friday April 28, Saturday April 29, Thursday May 4 and Saturday May 6, and at 2 p.m. Sunday April 30 and Sunday May 7. Performances will be at City Marketplace, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite 207B, Palm Coast. Saturday: The People’s Climate Movement March, in conjunction with a march scheduled in Washington, D.C., will march locally in the Rally BY the Sea, meeting at Wadsworth Park at 10 am and marching over the bridge to Veteran’s Park in Flagler Beach, where there we will a rally and speakers sharing a wide variety of issues and information on how to get involved.

Saturday Drug Take Back: The front lobby of the Flagler Beach Police Department will be open on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in support of “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day”. The Police Department is located at 204 South Flagler Avenue, one block south of SR100 on the east side of the Moody/SR100 Bridge.This one day event will provide residents and/or visitors with a no cost, anonymous collection of unwanted and/or expired medicines and this initiative is a collaboration between your local Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This one day event supplements our ongoing efforts to safely collect and dispose of prescription medications with our Drug Collection Unit; which is located within the Police Department’s lobby.

Saturday: Flagler County Centennial Celebration: The main event is held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Government Services Complex, 1769 E. Moody Boulevard, Bunnell. Activities include a classic car show, photo contest, music including performers from the Flagler Youth Orchestra, Kids’ Zone, food trucks, historic re-enactments of the first school board and first county commission meetings, re-enactors who’ll perform Henry Flagler, and more. Everything is free, except for the food trucks.

The Revenue Estimating Conference will hold what is known as an “impact” conference. (Friday, 9 a.m., 117 Knott Building, the Capitol.)

♦ May 1: The Flagler Youth Orchestra’s five ensembles, some 350 musicians in all, perform their last full concert of the season at 7 p.m. at the Flagler Auditorium. Tickets are $6 for adults.
♦ May 3: Free legal clinics: The Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller in partnership with the Flagler County Bar Association is proud to present a four part series of legal clinics free of charge. Come out and speak to attorneys who are experts in their respective field of law for free. These clinics will be held at the Flagler County courthouse in the 1st floor jury assembly room, 1769 E. Moody Blvd. building #1, Bunnell, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Today’s class: Criminal Law and Traffic. See the flyer here.
♦ May 4: The Palm Coast Democratic Club meets at the African American Cultural Center on Rt. 1 in Palm Coast. Look for the white pyramid in front. Meet and greet at 6:30 p.m., meeting at 7.”Be there and bring friends and family,” says Club President Mike Cocchiola. “We’ll have speakers on our important Florida environmental issues. We like it here. We don’t want anyone polluting our air and water, killing our wildlife of flooding our shorelines because they don’t understand, don’t believe, or worse, don’t care. You all know who we’re talking about. We need to talk about this and take action as a club.”
♦ May 15: The Flagler Beach Police Department and the local 7-ELEVEN store have partnered to host another edition of “Doughnuts with Doughney” from 8 to 10 a.m. The Flagler Beach 7-ELEVEN convenience store is at 408 South Oceanshore Boulevard. The two hours in that it provide the public an opportunity to meet and speak openly with Chief Doughney about issues or concerns in Flagler Beach. The location of the meeting provides citizens easy access to both the 7-ELEVEN and Chief Doughney, in a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere.

♦ May 16: The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission holds a hearing the the case of Circuit Judge Scott DuPont, who faces several charges of misconduct during his 2016 re-election election campaign. He has admitted wrongdoing. The 9 a.m. hearing is taking place in courtroom 406-7 at the Duval County Courthouse, 501 W. Adams Street, Jacksonville, before a six-member panel: Eugene Pettis, Steven P. DeLuca, Robert Morris, Michele Cummings, Harry Duncanson (a lay member of the commission) and Jerome S. Osteryoung.
♦ May 18: The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office holds a candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m. at the Flagler County courthouse, followed by a walk to the Sheriff’s Operations Center at 7:45 p.m.
