At 9:46 a.m. a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a Taurus speeding east toward Bunnell on State Road 100–and speeding so recklessly fast that the deputy could not catch up to the car. Two minutes later, the Taurus rear-ended another car and spun around down the SR100 ramp into Bunnell, smashing into a ditch and triggering the air bags.
Two black men in the car, including driver Darryl Duffy, 21, apparently uninjured, fled the scene. The sheriff’s office set chase, launching the county’s Fire Flight in the air, which hovered this morning very low in the neighborhood of Saw Mill Estates, where Bunnell’s upper crust lives. A K-9 unit was also called in.
The other car in the original wreck was damaged, but it’s unclear how much, and its three occupants were not injured. (This story originally reported two occupants. See the comment by Cynthia Nicholson, one of the occupants, correcting the record.)
Duffy, who turned 21 the day of the incident and is from Palatka, was booked into the Flagler County jail. He faces several charges, including speeding, careless driving, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest without violence, Johnson said. He may face additional charges from Bunnell police. It’s not clear if the other individual who was in the Taurus will also be charged. He posted $3,000 bond.
Why the two men were speeding east isn’t known.

You got to love when these career criminal, gang bangers make a habit of running from the law and putting people’s lives at risk, and not to mention (for the my money motivated readers) cost the tax payers the cost of how many officers, agencies, and the use of the helicopter???………..you ask yourself why they do it???, well could it be that at first appearance our lovely justice system gives him the lowest possible bond on each charge ($500.00) No wonder they run, your fellow gang bangers will have them bonded out by morning and not to mention they will have time to ditch there drugs and stolen gun.
The punishment must outweigh the gain in these crimes or they will continue!!!!!

There is no need for police bashing. These men put their lives on the line to put these low lives away.
Our problem is with the judicial system. The only way laws can be changed to keep these low lives off the street is from our legislature. Its time for strict penalties for these repeat offenders.

There were 3 occupants in the car that was hit, not two. They were my husband and my 5 and 6 year old sons. No one was hurt, just shaken up and our car has minor damage to the exhaust pipe and some body paint and a ding or two (big thanks to Toyota, our Highlander withstood the hit very well.)

Hard punishments and hard time spent in jail vs. good times is what would reduce crime. We done the other way for decades and are look at the nature of the crimes committed today, even if the ratio of crime has dropped in some areas (I ouwld hope so given the growth of the population for God’s sake). Instead they are working out around the clock so to become a better violent brutal crimnal when they leave jail, and their ability to grow their criminal organizations through communication networks and schemes, due to the ACLU making sure they have their “rights” protected and demonizing anything elese as being cruel and unusual punishment. It is sickening to watch occur.

Mr Duffy ran a car into my house in May. The car was not his, and not reported stolen however, the car insurance won’t pay for my house damages because, “Mr. Duffy “didn’t have permission” to be driving the vehicle” any suggestions help! Also, the deputy that Mr Duffy was fleeing from at the time happened to run a police chase into a different house only months before. Feeling frustrated.
