Gas Prices Rise Again as Peace Deal Collapses

Gas prices in Florida inched up over the past week after President Donald Trump declared a tentative peace deal with Iran as “over” amid new drone and rocket exchanges as the two countries battle over the Strait of Hormuz, a key chokepoint for global oil supplies.

While prices in Florida showed a slight dip at the pump over the weekend, the average across the state stood at $3.81 on Monday, 6 cents higher than a week earlier, according to AAA.

In Palm Coast and Flagler Beach, prices for unleaded regular are ranging between $3.77 and $3.89 at most stations, with a low of $3.68 at BJ’s Wholesale, but only for customers who have paid the wholesaler’s annual membership fee. Most stations’ prices are around $3.85.

The state average is down 8 cents from a month ago, but 86 cents higher than a year ago, according to AAA.

AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins cautioned that oil prices have “nudged” upward due to concerns that fuel supply disruptions will be renewed.

“With tensions in the Middle East adding uncertainty to the global oil market, gas prices could remain volatile in the coming weeks,” Jenkins stated Monday.

Averages in Florida ranged from $3.52 a gallon in Escambia County at the western end of the Panhandle to $4.14 in Monroe County, which includes the Florida Keys. Monroe County remains the only county with an average over $4 per gallon.

“The national average is about to break an eight-week streak of declines,” advised Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

De Haan added that while West Texas Intermediate crude oil and Brent crude oil were up, the impact on gas prices shouldn’t emulate the spike seen in March and April after Israel and the U.S. began attacks on Iran.

For electric vehicles, the average kilowatt hour cost at charging stations in Florida on Monday rounded to 41 cents. The average has shown little change since standing at 39 cents at the end of February. The national rate is 42 cents. It was at 39 cents at the end of February.

Diesel at $4.99.9 today in Palm Coast. According to the AAA, Diesel average cost per gallon, in Florida, is $5.50. That is being passed onto consumers.

Sure blame him for everything. But the oil companies are the ones getting rich. Do some research!

Excuse me, but blame is perfectly appropriate for the idiot in the WH who loves to take credit whenever gas prices were coming down. It was HIM, he said, who made that happen. Well, you have to admit that if he did do some cajoling to the oil company execs or some slight of hand hijinks that helped in lowering the price of gas in the past, he absolutely is the one most responsible for gas prices going back up again due to the insane war with Iran THAT HE STARTED, and is continuing to escalate once again!

And guess what? It is not only the price of gas that is going up again. Each day that the Strait of Hormuz continues to be closed to shipping, each day that Iran and the U.S. military trade air strikes in a testosterone contest gone wild, and each day that the convicted felon in the WH blindly wabbles his cankled legs around aimlessly without any idea how to get out of the quagmire HE initiated, the affordability crisis that is already having a hugely negative impact on American families will only get worse and worse as we get closer to the midterm elections where republi-cons are going to face a potentially historic shellacking at the polls! All due to their dear egomaniac sex abuser con man they love and adore… to their own detrminent. It’s what we call “KARMA”.

Ed Henderson: Why are the oil companies getting rich? Don Quixote Trump is fighting windmills, fighting renewables, wanting to drill for oil on our national parks, fighting green energy, and calling climate change “a hoax.”

        Seriously, you do some research!

@ ed. . . I do my research and become more educated all the time. How about you??? trump completely supports the fossil fuel industry in every way! Those oligarchs are some of his best buds. They funnel Billions to him, at huge costs to citizens at the gas pump:

Donald Trump supports the oil industry by aggressively pursuing an “American Energy Dominance” agenda. This includes passing massive tax breaks, opening federal lands and offshore areas for drilling, declaring a national energy emergency to fast-track permits, and rolling back environmental and methane regulations.

Key methods of support include:Financial Incentives: Trump has enacted major tax incentives for oil and gas firms, including legislation that provided billions in permanent tax reductions and taxpayer-guaranteed loans.

Dismantling Regulations: His administration has systematically rolled back environmental restrictions. For example, by weakening 2024 federal rules, he reduced methane emissions standards and lowered the financial bonds oil companies must post to clean up abandoned wells on public lands.

Expanding Drilling Access: Executive orders have lifted restrictions on oil and gas production in Alaska and sped up the approval timelines for drilling projects on public lands.Prioritizing Exports: He reversed earlier bans and freezes on permitting for new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals to maximize export capabilities.

Brennan Center for Justice Sep 15, 2025 — Trump asked oil and gas executives in 2024 to raise $1 billion for his campaign. He also offered to help fast-track fossil fuel development. President Trump signed several energy-related executive orders (EOs) on January 20, 2025, intended to boost U.S. oil.

“The Trump administration wants to make it easier and more profitable to expand drilling on public lands, all while weakening the rules that regulate that activity.

By tilting the playing field, the Trump administration is actively choosing fossil fuel “winners,” increasing costs for American taxpayers.

Sep 15, 2025 — Trump asked oil and gas executives in 2024 to raise $1 billion for his campaign and told them he’d grant their policy wish list if he won.

Chris, impeachment in the House is followed by a trial in the Senate. The kicker is that two thirds are needed to convict and remove a president. It is also meant to remove a president for crimes.

The 25th Amendment is a method to remove a president who is not able to perform the job. I believe Mr. Trump is mentally unfit. On July 8, 2026, Mr. Trump confused Japan with Iran. He said “Islamic State of Japan” while apparently meaning Iran. He has sleep issues. He posts in the middle of the night and falls asleep in meetings.

Either way, for the good of the country Trump must go. His election rants are an attempt to give Republican leaders in the House and Senate a pretext to refuse to seat newly elected Democrats from the upcoming midterm election.

There was a time when Republicans had the integrity to remove a crook themselves. Now, they are too frightened of a bully.

        Who is watching CNN?

We don’t watch CNN, ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, Fox Entertainment, certainly don’t watch Newsmax unless we need a laugh, or any other fear based, medias that have sold out.

        What do you watch, Ed?

Well I’m going to have to agree with you on that. There is no media that you can trust, including social media. If any 1440 is probably the TG he better of the bunch.

No, media today is heavily biased and misleading, not to mention depressing. I do trust PBS, and BBC. Also AP. They have good reporters. I have no interest in hosts opinions, unless they are labeled, such as the editor’s take on a subject. There are still a few good source left, but the outlets with the biggest audiences are being manipulated. Walter Cronkite is rolling over!

Independent news sources are trying to keep it real, but still too many opinions. I don’t really follow them, but drop in from time to time. I have hope!

Never heard of 1440 before, it’s interesting. Like snippets of knowledge. I just learned how a dishwasher works! Kind of a different format to get used to. Don’t know what you mean by “TG.”

A major part of the origin story of the crackpots, and Pod People, who put trump in power:

    As stated
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Nolan+chart

    Ibid
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Pod+People

Florida has been, and is, a Garden of Eden for the crackpots’ affliction. While everyone was bellyaching about the Hare Krishna and the Beatles — the loons who joined Nolan’s and Ayn Rand’s swingers’ club, and co-opted the Republican Party, became a lethal contagious venereal disease, and destroyed the United States of America. With no small help from presidents Nader and Stein.

Eat up, it is all that there is left.

    doG bless us all.
