Voter registration deadline extended to Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m.: Flagler County Supervisor of Elections Kaiti Lenhart has extended the Supervisor of Elections’ office hours by an hour each day, with the office opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m. (instead of 8:30 to 4:30). She said that will continue through next Tuesday’s extension. Get your voter registration application here.

Farm Share, the non-profit Florida food bank that distributes fresh food, vegetables and fruit to the neediest, is at the Flagler County airport to provide meals and other goods to residents trying to restore order to their lives in the wake of Hurricane Matthew Monday starting at 9 a.m. Details here.

Sheriff’s candidates debate between the GOP’s Rick Staly, Democrat Larry Jones, and Independent Thomas Dougherty, sponsored by the News-Journal, at at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Coquina City Hall in downtown Bunnell. Open to the public.

The Flagler County Commission meets at 5 p.m. in board chambers at the Government Services Building in Bunnell. The commission will recognize Nadine King as the 2016 businesswoman of the year. It is expected to approve a series of grant agreements for social services in the county (with the Early Learning Coalition, the Children’s Home Society, which runs Sally’s Safe Haven, the Boys and Girls Club, the Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club, and the Free Clinic, among others).

Pollution notices: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will begin a series of meetings on a proposal that would create new requirements for notifying the public when pollution occurs. The proposal comes after high-profile pollution incidents. (9 a.m., Southwest District Office, 13051 North Telecom Parkway, Temple Terrace.)

Felon voting rights: The Financial Impact Estimating Conference will hold a workshop on a proposed constitutional amendment that would automatically restore voting rights for non-violent felons. The proposal, known as the “Voter Restoration Amendment,” could go on the 2018 ballot. (9 a.m., 117 Knott Building, the Capitol.)

Health care campaign: Groups such as Florida CHAIN and the League of Women Voters of Florida will hold a conference call with reporters to announce the #VoteHealthCare campaign. (10 a.m. Call-in number: 1-571-297-3003. PIN: 69939024.)

♦ Nov. 4-5: The Florida Agricultural Museum will host the seventh annual Pellicer Creek Raid on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program will involve a number of living history groups from around the southeastern United States. Approximately 150 infantry, artillery, and cavalry troops will be demonstrating military life in Florida circa 1864. Parades will take place at noon and battles at 1 p.m. on both days of the event.
