In Court: Flagler County Ciecuit Judge Matthew Foxman hears pleas in several cases at 9 a.m., and holds felony arraignments at 1:30 p.m., in Courtroom 401 at the Flagler County Courthouse.

The Flagler County Commission holds a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. to adopt a special taxing district for the 2016-2017 fiscal year and annually after that for drainage improvements and maintenance in the North MalaCompra Drainage Basin District and the Marineland Acres Drainage Basin District. The first year’s tax, or assessment, would be $30 per lot, with subsequent years’ costs potentially higher, but capped at a maximum of $75 per lot. The meeting, where the public will get a chance to address the county commission, is to be held in board chambers at the Government Services Building in Bunnell. The Bunnell City Commission holds the first of two public hearings at 6:30 p.m. at Bunnell City Hall to set its tax rate for 2017. Although the rate of $7.45 per $1,000 in taxable value will remain the same as the current rate, it represents a 3.17 percent tax increase, because it is 3.17 percent above the rolled-back rate. The hearing will be followed by the commission’s regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m.

The Flagler County Public Library Board of Trustees meets at 4:30 p.m. in the Doug Cisney Room at the main public library on Palm Coast Parkway. The board will discuss a policy on parking lot activities, among other discussions.

The Garden Club at Palm Coast holds its monthly meeting at the Flagler County Extension Service, 150 Sawgrass Road, Bunnell, with sign-in beginning at 12:30 p.m. Joan Kramer, Master Beekeeper, will talk “all about bees.” There will be a raffle for a floral design, plant sale, door prizes as well as light refreshments. Navy training schedules indicate that live bombing will take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex located in the Ocala National Forest on Sept. 12 through 15 starting at 9:15 a.m. each day, with live bombing, and ending between 4 and 6:15 p.m. Expect some rattling. Minimum wage rally: Workers, clergy members and community leaders will hold a rally and a news conference to support issues such as a $15 minimum wage in Florida and union rights. (Rally at 11:30 a.m., news conference at noon, the Capitol, Tallahassee.)
