Sunday Clean-Up Efforts: In Palm Coast and Flagler Beach: The Flagler-Palm Coast High School Cross Country team and the Flagler County Runners, along with our new Mayor Milissa Holland, will be cleaning up the Graham Swamp mountain bike trailhead on Colbert Lane tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. In Flagler Beach at the same time, firefighters and many others will be cleaning up the beaches between North 4th Street to South 9th Street, along the boardwalk, to prepare for reopening the beaches, starting at 8 a.m. Bring gloves.

Schools: Friday was originally scheduled to be a teacher workday, because of Hurricane Matthew, classes will be held Friday as a normal school day.

Emergency Call In Center Open All Weekend: Flagler County’s call-in center will remain open on Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers will answer phone lines from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number to the call-in center is 386-586-5111.

Voter registration deadline extended to Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m.: Flagler County Supervisor of Elections Kaiti Lenhart had already extended the Supervisor of Elections’ office hours by an hour each day, with the office opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m. (instead of 8:30 to 4:30). She said that will continue through next Tuesday’s extension. Get your voter registration application here.

Hurricane Recovery Assistance Center: Flagler County is operating an Assistance Center to help residents get information and some resources for their needs in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. The Center is ahead of a potential FEMA Disaster Center. The center is at the Palm Coast Branch Library, 2500 Palm Coast Parkway NW, and it will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Wednesday. Multiple agencies will be located at the Assistance Center including the following: United Way, Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Flagler County Health Department, Flagler County Human Services, Flagler County Homebuilder’s Association, Department of Children and Families, FEMA (once they arrive) and Verizon with two charging stations. Small satellite facilities will be set up at the Adult Education Center, 5633 N. State Road A1A, Hammock, and at the Hidden Trails Community Center, 6108 Mahogany Blvd., Daytona North. Residents will be pre-screened for necessary services and provide counseling.

Friday: U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, who represents Flagler County in Congress, will be at Flagler Beach’s City Hall for a brief meeting with city officials in board chambers at 12:30 p.m.

Friday: Movie in the Park: “Hotel Transylvania 2,” in Palm Coast’s Central Park. The movie begins at dusk and admission is free. A different family feature is shown on the big screen in the stage area at the main entrance to the park. We remind all movie goers to bring blankets, chairs, picnic baskets, bug spray and make plans to come early with your family, friends and neighbors.

Saturday: The Art of Jazz One Night Only! Performance by famous jazz musician Longineu Parsons, the great protege of the great cornetist Nat Adderly, performed in over 30 countries and recorded with such greats as Cab Calloway, Cecil Taylor, Herbie Mann, Billy Harper, and many others. Featuring a special exhibit of Ev Niewoehner with his musical themed oil paintings. Sponsored by the Palm Coast Arts Foundation, PCAF members $50; general public $60, includes buffet dinner. Halifax Plantation, 3400 Clubhouse Drive, Ormond Beach, 6 p.m.

Sunday: The Pink Army 5K run and walk through Town center, originally scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed because of Hurricane Matthew.

♦ Nov. 4-5: The Florida Agricultural Museum will host the seventh annual Pellicer Creek Raid on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program will involve a number of living history groups from around the southeastern United States. Approximately 150 infantry, artillery, and cavalry troops will be demonstrating military life in Florida circa 1864. Parades will take place at noon and battles at 1 p.m. on both days of the event.
