In Schools: Meet the Teacher sessions at 1 p.m. at Wadsworth, Old Kings, Bunnell and Rymfire Elementary schools, and an open house at Buddy Taylor Middle at 10 a.m.

Friday: First day of the 2018-19 school year for students in all Flagler County public and charter schools. The buses are rolling, students are bicycling, skateboarding and walking the streets: be on the look-out, be safe, be kind.

Friday: The Flagler County Canvassing Board meets at 10 a.m. at the Supervisor of Elections Office, Government Services Building, 1769 E. Moody Boulevard, Building 2, Suite 101. The agenda: Logic and Accuracy Testing of the Voting Equipment.

Friday: Movies in the Park, 8 p.m. in Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast. Families will enjoy “Beauty and the Beast” on the park’s giant outdoor movie screen. Bring your blanket, lawn chairs and snacks and invite your friends and neighbors to join you at this free, monthly family activity offered by Palm Coast Parks & Recreation and Flagler Schools. Saturday: Second Saturday Plant Sale, join the Friends of Washington Oaks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greenhouse area. With Master Gardeners on hand, you are sure to get the personal attention and advice you are looking for. Saturday: Motown Magic is the featured act at the free Midtown Motown Concert series at Cypress Park at the Midtown Cultural & Educational Center in Daytona Beach from 7 to 9 p.m., with Cypress Pool open for free swimming until 9 p.m. during the concert, at 981 George West Engram Blvd., Daytona Beach. Parking is available at Cypress Park.

Saturday: Free New and Old Members Clinic by the Flagler Sportsfighing Club at 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hammock Community Center, 79 Mala Compra Road, Palm Coast. Navy Bombing in the Ocala National Forest: Navy training schedules indicate that inert and live bombing will take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex located in the Ocala National Forest this week. Bombings at times can be heard in Flagler-Palm Coast. The bombings are scheduled as follows:

Friday: Live and inert bombing from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m., with live bombing ending around 7:30 p.m.
Saturday: Live and inert bombing from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m., with live bombing ending around 7:30 p.m.
Sunday: No bombing.

During bombing periods wildlife may be temporarily displaced. Use extra caution when driving through the Ocala National forest and surrounding areas. Secure any items around your residence that could attract wildlife. Always be mindful of larger animals including black bears and practice bearwise <http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/managed/bear/wise/neighborhood/> measures. Through Aug. 17: Florida Department of Health in Flagler is offering free back-to-school immunizations July 30 through August 17. Parents and guardians are asked to bring their child’s immunization record, insurance card, and a photo ID. The clinic will be open Monday through Friday from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary. The DOH-Flagler is located at 301 Dr, Carter Blvd. in Bunnell. FELONS’ RIGHTS DISCUSSED: The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, which is helping spearhead a proposed constitutional amendment to restore felons’ voting rights, will start a two-day conference. The proposed amendment, which will appear on the November ballot as Amendment 4, would automatically restore the rights of most felons after they have served their sentences.
