I feel privileged every day when I drive onto the campus at Matanzas High School.
Ten years ago when my family moved to Palm Coast from Atlanta, Georgia,
I was not completely sold on Flagler County. However, I quickly began volunteering at both of my sons’ schools and learned to love the area and its people. About six years ago, a friend mentioned that since I already had so much volunteer experience, I should apply for the Volunteer Coordinator position with Flagler County Schools. After being successfully hired for the position, I happily jumped right into the role.
My subsequent move to the Matanzas High School Guidance Department has truly been a blessing. My husband and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage this year and our oldest son, Rhett, is a Marine Reservist and an Ormond Beach Police Officer. He recently married Lauren who is a new teacher at Belle Terre Elementary School. Bryant, our youngest, has been a Sheriff’s Department Explorer since the 6th grade and he is currently attending Daytona State College.
