The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying two men alleged to have fraudulently withdrawn money from two banks in several local transactions resulting in the combined alleged theft of nearly $8,000. The men are not working in concert.
One man, white, older middle-aged, with salt and pepper hair and a beard just past the stubble stage, is accused of making two fraudulent withdrawals from SunTrust bank on Flagler Plaza Drive in Palm Coast, for more than $7,300.
The man entered SunTrust on Feb. 12, 2016, at 9:36 a.m., and withdrew $2,800 from an account that turned out to belong to a man in Smyrna, Ga. The same suspect made a second withdrawal at the same branch, using the same teller, for $4,575.75. The Georgia resident reported the fraud case to SunTrust and has been reimbursed.
Now SunTrust hopes someone locally can identify the man, shown in the surveillance photo above.
If you have any information about this suspect, you are asked to contact Detective Joe Costello at (386) 586-4897 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org regarding Case # 16-26164.
The Sheriff’s Office also needs your help to identify a person wanted for using a bank customer’s debit card on March 1 at the Bank of America’s exterior ATM at 2 Old Kings Road in Palm Coast. The man is black, youthful, with short dreadlocks.
The account owner told Flagler County sheriff’s detectives that someone had used his debit card to withdraw $500 in three separate transactions, resulting in his checking account being overdrawn. The victim told detectives he is the only person with access to his account. He has filed a fraud report with Bank of America, said he was reimbursed for the money taken from his account, and he has secured a new debit card.
