Elevated onshore flow and building surf will create an elevated rip current risk along the coast today through Memorial Day as Tropical Depression #2 tracks toward the South Carolina coast, the National Weather Service cautions.
There is a low chance–about 20 percent–that sustained tropical storm force winds could impact the outer coastal waters, east of Brunswick, Ga., later this afternoon and tonight. The storm is expected to strengthen to a tropical storm later
today or tonight. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect from Savannah River to Little Inland South Carolina.
But other than the elevated rip current risk and tropical storm force wind potential over the outer coastal waters of Georgia, minimal impacts are expected across the local area from this storm. The weekend weather locally, in Palm Coast and Flagler Beach, is expected to be hot, humid and partly cloudy, with a 20 percent chance of showers Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
