The Daily Cartoon and Live Briefing: Thursday, April 16, 2026

April 16, 2026 | FlaglerLive | 8 Comments

trump surrender
From Clay Jones: “As predicted, Donald Trump taco’ed out again after threatening to commit genocide against the Iranian people. Make no mistake about it, threatening to destroy an entire civilization is threatening genocide. Donald Trump was threatening to commit war crimes. Trump set a deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz. This was the same Strait that was open before he chose to start a war with Iran. This is the same Strait that he demanded Iran open. This is the same Strait that NATO, Japan, and South Korea refused to help him open after he cried for their assistance. This is the same Strait that Trump said he didn’t need anyone’s help to reopen after our allies refused to help him reopen it. This is the same Strait he said he wasn’t that concerned with anymore, and it would open up “naturally.” And this is the same Strait that he demanded Iran open by 8 PM Tuesday, or he would commit genocide against them. So what happened?” Read the full Jones at Substack.

As the world begins to change, one woman brings something the von Trapp family hasn’t known in a long time—joy. When Maria steps into their lives, she brings laughter, music, and a renewed sense of connection—just as the world outside their home begins to shift in dangerous ways. In a time of rising fear and uncertainty, their bond becomes an anchor—and their courage, a quiet form of resistance. The Sound of Music is a timeless story of love, family, and standing up for what truly matters, brought to life with one of the most beloved scores in musical theatre history. Music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Run time: 2 hours and 45 minutes with a 15-minute intermission

Notably: This is his actual English. The President of the United States in a truth social post last week. No satirist would have gotten away with this pastiche or a pastiche. It must be read to be believe–to believe that this is is what will hang in the Smithsonian and at the Hall of Presidents at Disney. This is what English has come to, to not say the United States: “I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon — Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs. They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too! Look at their past, look at their record. They don’t have what it takes, and they never did! They’ve all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren’t even invited on TV because nobody cares about them, they’re NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS, and will say anything necessary for some “free” and cheap publicity. Now they think they get some “clicks” because they have Third Rate Podcasts, but nobody’s talking about them, and their views are the opposite of MAGA — Or I wouldn’t have won the Presidential Election in a LANDSLIDE. MAGA agrees with me, and just gave CNN a 100% Approval Rating of “TRUMP,” not Hand Flailing Fools like Tucker Carlson, who couldn’t even finish College, he was a broken man when he got fired from Fox, and he’s never been the same — Perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist! Or Megyn Kelly, who nastily asked me the now famous, “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” question, or “Crazy” Candace Owens, who accuses the Highly Respected First Lady of France of being a man, when she is not, and will hopefully win lots of money in the ongoing lawsuit. Actually, to me, the First Lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace, in fact, it’s not even close! Or Bankrupt Alex Jones, who says some of the dumbest things, and lost his entire fortune, as he should have, for his horrendous attack on the families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, ridiculously claiming it was a hoax. These so-called “pundits” are LOSERS, and they always will be! Now Fake News CNN, The Failing New York Times, and all of the other Radical Left “News” Organizations, are “hailing” them, and giving them “positive” press for the first time in their lives. They’re not “MAGA,” they’re losers, just trying to latch on to MAGA. As President, I could get them on my side anytime I want to, but when they call, I don’t return their calls because I’m too busy on World and Country Affairs and, after a few times, they go “nasty,” just like Marjorie “Traitor” Brown, but I no longer care about that stuff, I only care about doing right for our Country. MAGA is about WINNING and STRENGTH in not allowing Iran to have Nuclear Weapons. MAGA is about MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and these people have no idea how to do that, BUT I DO, because THE UNITED STATES IS NOW THE “HOTTEST” COUNTRY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! “The Head of State was often a good deal jeered at for the affected turns and twists of his oratory. But–or so Peralta believed—he didn’t use them out of love of pure verbal baroque; he knew that such artificial language had created a style which was part of his image, and that the use of words, adjectives and unusual epithets seldom understood by his hearers, far from being prejudicial, flattered some atavistic taste of theirs for what was precious and flowery, and thus gained him fame as a master of language, whose tone was in strong contrast to the monotonous, badly-constructed, military pronouncements of his adversary.”

–From Alejo Carpentier’s Reasons of State (1974).

Today’s comments and quote are you (Mr. Tristam) at your best.

I encourage everyone to learn about the great Alejo Carpentier, and his works.

Commentary and literary criticism on, The Kingdom of this World, with a very few changes, read like the history of the age of Trump:

“…A few years after its liberation from French colonialist rule, Haiti experienced a period of unsurpassed brutality, horror, and superstition under the reign of the black King Henri-Christophe. Through the eyes of the ancient slave Ti-Noël, The Kingdom of This World records the destruction of the black regime–built on the same corruption and contempt for human life that brought down the French–in an orgy of voodoo, racial hatred, erotomania, and fantastic grandeurs of false elegance…”

    Re: The blog.

Just Baker Act him and usher him out. The level of immaturity, and lack of sense is uncommon in average adults, and should never be acceptable in a President of the United States. He embarrasses us in the world, that may take decades to overcome. There is no excuse for this!

Dipshit Hegseth, contorting Bible verses in support of the felon prez’ warmongering, should begin with this maga prayer instead: “Our tangerine, who art in Mar-a Lago, shallowed be thy name… ”

I’m sure each and every one of the pedo prez’ sycophants who try to top one another with bombastic bullshit to please their boss in the WH know damn well that he is up at 3 am going over social media and all of their supporting, ignorant statements. The only way they can keep in his good graces is by mentioning how much they adore the tangerine turd in every other sentence, and show their soiled pant knees where they prostrated themselves in front of him to lick his shoes and hug his swollen, cankled legs.

They have no shame, and that’s just the way he likes them… completely shameless, soulless, empty vessels who are completely open to being controlled for his personal enjoyment.

All of them will either be thrown under the bus at some point, or ridiculed and castigated by society once this felonious, corrupt administration is no longer in power. It is inevitable.

The tangerine turd thinks he “wins”??? The only thing he is capable of winning is the laughable type of fake FIFA peace prize that idiots give him to curry favor and show their ignorance and immorality to the world.

Even more and more of his former republican voters are so disgusted with all of the stunts and sacrilegious nonsense that they now openly ridicule him in public. Their brain cells apparently are not quite dead after all.

Absolutely! In trump’s demented “alternate reality” he always wins. . . so what else is new?

A God and legend in his own mind! A Maga president who has drawn our country into his criminal regime. Elect a “criminal” and, of course you get corrupt behavior. This is completely on YOU Maga! trump is most certainly NOT my President!
