When Maria steps into their lives, she brings laughter, music, and a renewed sense of connection—just as the world outside their home begins to shift in dangerous ways. In a time of rising fear and uncertainty, their bond becomes an anchor—and their courage, a quiet form of resistance. The Sound of Music is a timeless story of love, family, and standing up for what truly matters, brought to life with one of the most beloved scores in musical theatre history. Music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Run time: 2 hours and 45 minutes with a 15-minute intermission

Notably: A record low? Statista: “Consumer sentiment in the United States dropped to a record low in April, as the war in Iran and its effect on energy prices spurred Americans’ inflation fears and added to broader concerns over the economy’s trajectory. Preliminary results for April from the University of Michigan’s monthly Index of Consumer Sentiment showed an 11-percent drop in the headline Index of Consumer Sentiment, as both subindexes, the Index of Current Economic Conditions and the Index of Consumer Expectations saw double-digit declines. It was the first time in the survey’s history, dating back to 1952, that the index dropped below 50, illustrating just how downbeat Americans are about their personal finances and the economy overall. Most notably, inflation expectations surged in response to the conflict in Middle East, with respondents now expecting prices to increase 4.8 percent over the coming 12 months, up from 3.8 percent in March.”

Did you ever think much about jobs? I mean, some of the jobs people land in? You see a guy giving haircuts to dogs, or maybe going along the curb with a shovel, scooping up horsecrap. And you think, now why is the silly bastard doing that? He looks fairly bright, about as bright as anyone else Why the hell does he do that for a living? You kind of grin and look down your nose at him. You think he’s nuts, know what I mean, or he doesn’t have any ambition. And then you take a good look at yourself, and you stop won feet. Your health is okay, and you make a nice appearance, and dering about the other guy. You’ve got all your hands and ambition man! you’ve got it. You’re young, I guess you’d call thirty young, and you’re strong. You don’t have much education, but you’ve got more than plenty of other people who go to the top. And yet with all that with all you’ve had to do with this is as far as you’ve got. And something tells you, you’re not going much farther if any. (you can’t stop hoping. You can’t stop wondering.

–From Jim Thompson, A Hell of a Woman (1953).

As the trigger happy Jackass party, they remind me of the gang that cant shoot straight. TRUMPS new gift to workers, Retire accounts for workers without 401k! Everytime TRUMP, 1 ups them. You see TRUMP is president of all Americans. The stock markets on fire, unemployement,s at an all time low….The threats, & lies from the Dems, keep coming. The whole party has a vendetta against TRUMP, yet in between cat naps, he has done WONDERFULL things for the people of the USA….All without help from the liberal fools. Seems Fedderman is the only patriot, in the Jackass party. At least he has common sense. Now they hate him for telling the truth! No wonder the Democrat are POLLING so low…. Theyve been exposed, as crooks, lairs & theives. Minn is just the begining of TRUMPS war against Fraud The numbers are staggering…. No longer will the tax payers, line the pockets of dirty Democrats!

Even ignorant people can correct their deficiency through education, but YOU are completely delusional!!! the best we in society can do, I suppose, is leave you to wallow in the sewage of your own making.

So, the question today is: Are you willing to destroy democracy for a small, unpopular, radical right, whose policies have been written by the extremist, white, Kristian, nationalist Heritage Foundation?

I think that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans want this. Hating black people, brown people, immigrants, women, gays and trans is not the American way. We all know of someone in one of these categories, and we don’t want a small, radical group, of any side, to do this damage to them, and us.

We the People want a fair vote. One person, one vote. None of us want to be ruled by the dark ages, and the oligarchy, people who want to cheat their way into our daily lives, and stifle our freedoms. People who rule us by one way thinking, and one way media propaganda owned by the oligarchy.

We have spent around $65billion on the war in Iran. Our President wants us to pay $400 million for a no bid ballroom with his name on it. He wants us to build him an Arc de Trump. We may now have to bail out the airlines. The President’s two sons got a drone contract paid for by us. But, the President tells us we don’t have the money for child care and Social Security.

We need to save ourselves, and our country from this incompetence and corruption. We need to work together.

One person, one vote. Fairly applied.

The Morning Overview reports that Swedish manufacturer Candela delivered 20 battery-powered 30-passenger hydrofoil ferries to Norwegian ferry operators.

Candela’s prototype hydrofoil ferry has been in proving trials since October 2024, running a route between Stockholm and a suburb.

When operating at hydrofoil speed, the ferry costs 80% less to operate than traditional diesel-powered ferries, derived from the costs thus far to operate the prototype.

Make of this what you will.

    Me?

Real world conditions may limit the applicability of the ferries. How do they navigate heavy seas? Are the electric hydrofoil ferries suitable to replace a slow diesel ferry when the road option requires only a little extra travel time? What if the driving option requires several extra hours.

Hong Kong is famed for its bay protected from high winds and storm swells by encircling mountains. Would such a shuttle ferry be more feasible in Hong Kong’s protected harbor than it would be crossing a Norwegian fjord unprotected from winter storms?

Just how big is the worldwide market for an 30-seat electric hydrofoil ferry?

Interesting Engineering reports that Guangzhou Shipping International (GSI) delivered a 14-deck, 10,800-unit car carrier, with engines certified to run on either conventional marine fuel or liquified natural gas.

This alone is interesting, but the reporter wrote that GSI has delivered 26 of more than 40 recently ordered car carriers. All told, including the remaining car carriers, GSI has some $14.1 billion in pending ship orders.

Make of this what you will.

    Me?

Does this story portend a near-term future expansion of international vehicle transport? If so, which will be the countries that will build the exportable vehicles? After all, someone had to place with just one Chinese shipbuilder more than 40 car carrier orders?

I found a Lloyd’s story reporting that as many as 60 new car carrying ships will be delivered from numerous shipyards to buyers in calendar year 2026. Do these ships replace aging, less efficient vessels? Add to existing stock? Both?

And the Maga Republican graft/grift/corruption just goes on and on and on= NOT a “Brave New World” . . . an “Immoral New World”:

MIAMI (AP) — A former Miami congressman and longtime friend of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was convicted Friday in connection with a secret $50 million lobbying campaign on behalf of Venezuela during the first Trump administration.

Jurors found Republican David Rivera and an associate, Esther Nuhfer, guilty on all counts, including failing to register as a foreign agent with the Justice Department and conspiracy to commit money laundering as part of their work for former President Nicolás Maduro’s government.

Much as he did throughout the trial, Rivera stood stone-faced as the jury delivered its verdict.

Rivera had been out on bond, but Judge Melissa Damian ordered him taken into custody, finding that he posed a flight risk because he has access to sizable funds, faces a potentially long prison sentence, and faces additional federal charges in Washington, D.C., in a related foreign lobbying case.

This war will not end soon no matter what the Lie Factory in DC is spouting. When Trump first began threatening Iran they began ammassing 6 months of essential food supplies around the country. They have a massive trove of Gold Bullion which will allow them to buy whatever they need from neighboring countries — they don’t need the Strait of Hormuz for that. And they have a Guard/Soldier system that has no trouble killing residents and protestors. So this is going take a long time to say nothing of the oil processing plants, aluminum plants and fertilizer factories that have been obliterated. Even if the war ended yesterday our cost for items will NOT be going down.
