Friday: Palm Coast commemorates Veterans Day with a ceremony at Heroes Park, 8 a.m., 2860 Palm Coast Parkway, just west of the public library.
Free For All Friday on WNZF, 9 a.m.: Host David Ayres welcomes U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, Flagler Beach City Manager Larry Newsom, and Ray Parker, who’ll be receiving the Silver Star later that day at a Veterans Day ceremony, starting with a commentary about the election by FlaglerLive Editor Pierre Tristam.
Friday: Flagler County’s Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled at 10 a.m. at the Flagler County Airport as the kick-off to Freedom Fest 2016 – a weekend long event to honor veterans that includes the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. Brigadier General Richard Butterfield, retired United States Army, will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Flagler County’s Veteran of the Year will also be announced. The winner of the Flagler Schools Veterans Day Essay Contest will also be honored. There will be a performance Flagler Palm Coast High School’s “Formality Singers” and its marching band.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Freedom Fest, a Veterans weekend celebration with live music, military aircraft, vendor village, fireworks and patriotic presentations including the traveling Vietnam Wall, at the Flagler County Airport. Co-produced with Flagler County Airport & Flagler Broadcasting.
Friday: The Flagler County Canvassing Board meets at the elections supervisor’s office at the Government Services Building in Bunnell at 5:15 p.m. to canvass provisional ballots and discuss unofficial results.
Friday, Saturday: The Matanzas Thespians are performing their One Act Play, “Mirrors,” that will be brought to District competition in Longwood next week. 7:30 p.m. at Pirate Theater, Matanzas High School. The One Act Play is entitled Mirrors, By John O’Brien. Directed by Matanzas Thespians President and Senior, Collin Sloan, this play, which scored impressively in several major play contests, begins with a man spending an ordinary evening in his ordinary home with his ordinary family. Then a psychiatrist enters. The man, it seems, is not at home but in a hospital. His family, we learn, is dead … or are they?
Friday, Saturday: The student production of “Fighting Demons,” by Flagler Palm Coast High School’s drama students, is staged at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and also at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Flagler Auditorium.
Saturday, Sunday: Community Cats of Palm Coast Yard Sale at 17 Fernham Lane in Palm Coast, just off Florida Park Drive. Proceeds support the rescue of cats and kittens in our community. Sunday: City Repertory Theatre fundraiser: 2 p.m. at CRT, at City Marketplace, Palm Coast. City Repertory Theatre presents a Staged Reading of N. Richard Nash’s “The Rainmaker,” featuring Annie Gaybis as Lizzie, a role made famous by Katherine Hepburn, and Peter Gutierrez as Starbuck (the Rainmaker) in the role Burt Lancaster made iconic. That impressive duo is surrounded by the talented veterans Jim Fellows (last season in SEX, DRUGS, ROCK AND ROLL), Bruce Popielarski (LARAMIE PROJECT, LINE) and Kip Taisey (Assistant Professor of Theater at Flagler College and featured performer at Seaside Music Theatre). Saturday at the Flagler County Art League, Second Saturday Show Opening, with “Go Small,” an exhibit of miniature fine art–small enough to take home as a gift for the Holidays, along with “Drawings With a Live Model,” works created in one of the league’s classes.
