The Flagler Youth Orchestra, in partnership with the Flagler County School District, is launching the tenth season of its strings program. An open house and information session is taking place this evening, Sept. 8, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Indian Trails Middle School cafeteria. The school is on Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast.
Flagler public, private, charter and home-schooled students, 3rd grade and older, may sign up to play violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Beginner, intermediate and advanced musicians are welcome. Tuition is free. Limited instrument scholarships are available.
Students will learn about the enriching world of classical music and many other genres while receiving string instruction in a player-friendly environment. All members, including beginners, will participate in performance opportunities organized throughout the year.
One-hour classes are held at Indian Trails Middle School on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. Tonight’s open house will enable parents and students to learn more about the strings program and instrument rentals and sales from local music stores.
