The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Case Unit secured two arrest warrants on Thursday (May 8) for Deon Jones, 21, and his girlfriend Tiyana Anderson, 22, in connection with what the sheriff’s office is describing as a BB gun shooting spree that shattered drivers’ vehicle windows and frightened them as they drove along I-4 and I-95 in Flagler, St. Johns and Volusia counties. Both suspects have already been incarcerated in other counties on similar charges.
On New Year’s day, a woman was traveling north on I-95 near the interchange with State Road 100 in Palm Coast when one of her windows shattered, startling her and forcing her to pull over. Aside from the broken window, she noticed six small dents in her vehicle. She drove home and reported the incident to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
As a Flagler sheriff’s detective worked the case, reports of similar incidents emerged in Volusia, St. Johns and Duval counties, involving vehicles traveling on I-95 or I-4. Witnesses reported seeing a silver or gray SUV speed off of areas where projectiles had shattered cars’ windows.
Detectives analyzed the Department of Transportation’s highway videos and identified the vehicle, while Florida Highway Patrol troopers identified one of the suspects, Deon Jones, after speaking with his grandfather: Jones was in possession of his grandfather’s vehicle, a gray Honda HRW, within the time frame of the incidents.
Authorities obtained a warrant to search the car. They found a PMC 9mm Luger round on the rear floorboard, and multiple copper BB’s throughout the vehicle, among other items (which included men’s underwear and a woman’s pajama pants). Authorities also obtained a warrant to search Jones’s phone, and identified Anderson as his girlfriend.
By February, detectives had the cell phone data that essentially drew a map of Jones’s whereabouts at the time each of the BB gun incidents was reported–in Ormond Beach, in Palm Coast, in Jacksonville. “This cell phone data,” Jones’s arrest report states, “will not only show the suspects location within Flagler but will also show the path of travel used from the Orlando Area on I4 to Jacksonville on I95 indicating this is the same subject in all counties the incidents occurred.”
“This could have had a much more tragic outcome and we are thankful that no one was seriously injured,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “It appears these two were traveling up and down the highways shooting at random vehicles, as they are facing nineteen charges each in Volusia County alone. This type of joy ride will not be tolerated and this case shows that law enforcement works together so that criminals that cross boundaries will still be apprehended. This reflects the great partnership we have locally.”
In Flagler County, Jones was charged with Criminal Mischief and Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle. Anderson was charged with Principal to Criminal Mischief and Principal to Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle. Jones is being held in the Duval County Jail. Anderson is being held in the Volusia County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bond.
What is wrong with people?
These are the kind of losers that give innocent black people a bad name. What did they get out of doing this and why would they do this? They need to be put in jail and I sure would not have allowed them to have any bail set. They could have killed a lot of people driving on those busy highways.
How low can some people go and this is the lowest. Who raised these two idiots they did a lousy job.
Bad Boy Bad Girl whatcha gonna do, whacha gonna do when they come for U!
Put the parents in jail Instead of these two Poorly taught kids! (Most likely the grandparent is raising them, very common in Flagler)
Parents must be held accountable! What the hell happen the last 40 yrs BOOMERS? ( you all sucked for parents! Greedy and Selfish generation)Can’t wait for the cry baby boomers to defend all their failures in this post.
This country is failing due to immigration, broken homes, over populated and outdated schools systems. ( third world)

Hey, I’m a boomer. My husband and I raised 4 children, fed them, clothed them, housed them and put them through college. I, myself worked 2 jobs for 10 years and hubby worked every minute of overtime he could get. My children were taught you didn’t get knocked up before you were married and did NOT live off the system. My youngest daughter is 46. She is an RN working in the trenches. My second daughter is a teacher. My first daughter is a paralegal and my son is 50 and has his own business in NYC. My grandchildren are all taken care of in two parent households. See, this is how my children grew up and they wouldn’t accept anything else. 2 of my grandchildren will graduate from college in the next month. One is a physical therapist and my granddaughter is going on to grad school for speech therapy. My youngest grandson is going into the Coast Guard Academy. My husband and I are retired. We bought our house in FL with cash, have no bills. We have savings. So, Bob, since I am a deadbeat BOOMER, I will wait for your reply. I can’t see where I was greedy or selfish. Maybe you can let me know. In the meantime, kiss my arse.
They haven’t met the right driver YET.

No excuse for what they did. This is attempted murder x however many vehicles were shot at. Clearly they have No regard for human life. Wonder whose brilliant idea it was to drive around shorting at people on highways?! Lock them up and throw away the key. You can’t rehabilitate people who do stuff like this. Things will only escalate if they’re allowed to roam free.
Right on Mary! As another “BOOMER”. . . I’m waiting for a great big apology from ole’ Bob. But, I’m not holding my breath for that complete jerk. I can guess who got his vote. . . if he even bothered.

That was a stupid comment by Bob. There are lots of reasons for the breakdown of families but simply being a BOOMER is NOT one of them. Excellent piece of investigative work by the Sheriff’s Department to track these two losers down. Lock them up and throw away the key for the next several years. Maybe the jail staff could use them for target practice to sharpen their aim!!
