The House bill approved today would eliminate local control and all grandfather clauses in vacation-rental rules, including those in Flagler and Flagler Beach, but Flagler officials say they’ll prevail in the end.

Steven Edwin Jones died on march 25 at age 74. He was Flagler County's first E-911 coordinator and had implemented the county's first Enhanced 911 system under sheriff McCarthy. According to his obituary, 'After returning from the Peace Corps, Steven continued his lifetime of service to others. Over the years he was the Executive Director of self-help housing programs in Wisconsin and South Florida as well as Executive Director of Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) and the Director of Modernization for the Housing Authority of Savannah, GA.In 1984 an available construction management position with ITT made it possible for Steven and his family to move to Flagler County. While in Palm Coast he made many positive contributions to our community. Steven went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. This degree provided a spring board to become the Executive Director of Senior Services and Flagler County Transportation. Over the years Steven was involved in numerous organizations and activities in Flagler County.'
