Gov. Rick Scott Making Campaign Stop at Grace’s Deli on Sept. 9

Gov. Rick Scott will be making his sixth trip to Flagler County in three years when he makes a brief campaign stop at Grace’s Place at 9 a.m. on Sept. 9, Dave Sullivan, chairman of the local Republican Executive Committee, said this morning.

Scott was last in Flagler 13 months ago, when he attended the groundbreaking at the Flagler County Airport of Aveo Engineering,

The campaign stop is part of Scott’s recently announced tour to herald  a pledge to cut $1 billion in taxes over the next two years, such as the communications-services tax on on cable and phone customers (which brought in $2.6 million to Palm Coast’s general revenue in 2013), and the phased elimination of the tax on corporate profits. When Scott’s office made the announcement last week, it did not include an analysis of how the tax cuts would affect local governments’ revenue.

Grace’s Place, on Palm Coast Parkway, formerly the location of Strathmore Deli, was featured in June on the Food Network’s Restaurant Impossible show, when restaurant owners Grace and Ed Tutak revealed their struggles to keep the place afloat, down to a $320,000 debt. “Sales at Grace’s Place have remained steady since the show, and Grace says that ‘the customers love the new decor,'” the show’s blog notes.

Scott’s visit, in one of the most closely watched political campaigns of the year in the nation, will bring yet more attention to the restaurant.

Hosting a political event may bring them attention but it may not be entirely the kind they want. I’ll never go there now after learning they support Gov. Scott’s campaign.

That’s the problem with involving your business in politics…you’re guaranteed to alienate at least half your potential market. It’s never a good idea.

I hope this is not the death of Grace’s Place, the Fraudster will poison both the food and the air. Also watch the inventory and cash register, Scott has a habit of stealing other peoples money and then takes the 5th to ensure he doesn’t have to pay for his crimes.

Graces Place does not discriminate against anyone, party, race etc. All are welcome here, I would be more than happy to host a democratic campaign stop. We are thankful for any and all of our guests. It is our goal to become the communities gathering place.

Amazing how the left will condemn any for a opinion they do not agree with politically. they are the true extremist’s in the political arena

I think what they were trying to say, is it is not a good idea to involve your business in politics. Meaning no politics, no matter what party.

Yes, simply stated keep it neutral. Politics 24/7 365 is too much! For Christ sake; All I want is to eat a Bagel in peace!

No wonder Palm Coast’s small businesses are struggling. Grace didn’t involve her business in politics, Flagler Live did and only by mentioning the name of her restaurant. And for that, you will not go there again? She hosts many events at her restaurant and always graciously and generously, and that applies to you, Nancy.

What a thing to say. To not support a candidate is one thing, but to attempt to harm a local business over it takes it to a whole new level. How many times has Charlie Crist been to Palm Coast and where did he go? Some may wish to boycott those places as well……NOT!

    Come on….

Grace doesn’t deserve some of these comments and neither does any other place of business in Palm Coast.

We are all free to support who we want to support. If I think that there is a possibility that the money that I spend at a business may go to support politics that I don’t believe in, I don’t go there. I will go to a business that I know supports the issues that I believe in. It’s not a “new low” it’s being smart. In fact, I use that theory when I go to the grocery store. I scan the UPC code and the “Buy Partisan” app tells me where they donate. I make my choice based on that information.
