The Green Lion Café’s five-and-half-year tenure at Palm Harbor Golf Club ends Sunday, with a new restaurant and bar known as Loopers taking over. But it’ll take a few weeks for Loopers to work its way up to its full menu.
Until then, the city-owned grounds will have food trucks for patrons. Ramon Personal Chef Food Truck and Cajun Cravins’ 2 Go will rotate every four days. The food trucks will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., serving grab-and-go handheld offerings, including coffee and danishes.
The truck will be stationed in the main parking lot near the bag drop. While most of the patio will be closed for renovations, a portion of the patio will remain open for diners to enjoy their meal at the available tables.
The Palm Coast City Council approved a food and beverage concession agreement with Loopers in December. The Green Lion Cafe was operated by the owners of the Golden Lion in Flagler Beach, which of course remains open, and will soon be joined with a bistro next door, also run by the same owners.
Loopers, co-owned by Jamie Bourdeau, who co-owns Beach Front Grille in Flagler Beach, intends to provide alcohol service utilizing a portion of the current restaurant. Its specialty cocktails will be themed after the golf greens, with a gin drink called “The Birdie,” and a rum drink called “Loopers Mojoto,” among others. (Loopers, not to be confused with dropped fly balls in baseball, is golf argot for caddie).
The restaurant will begin serving limited food and drink options as soon as practical while construction is in progress. Full operations are expected to start around March 1.
Construction to the interior of the building starts Monday. The city will perform routine maintenance on the building, and the new tenants will construct a bar area and a larger kitchen, at their own expense. During construction, there will be no access to the building from the restaurant side. All guests must enter the building through the pro shop doors. Ample signage will be displayed.
Loopers is paying a monthly rent of $1,500 plus utilities, with a 3 percent annual rent increase.
The restaurant will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and will offer an assortment of breakfast sandwiches and classic breakfast dishes in the morning. Lunch will feature sandwich specials that will change daily. Dinner will feature weekly specials of fresh fish, prime rib, and barbeque options.
A full bar will provide specialty drinks, craft beer, and assorted wines. Grab-and-go options will be available for golfers for breakfast and lunch.
Palm Harbor Golf Club is a public course open seven days a week. The golf club features a full-service practice facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping green. The pro shop, which carries both men’s and women’s name-brand apparel and equipment, is a shared space with the food and beverage concession provider.

I’ve served for many many years and have never been so excited to start working for a restaurant b4!! Maybe try having a better perspective in life! Because u did come off as rude when Loopers had zero to do with Green Lion not renewing the lease!!

I’m with Cora! I refuse to reward the city lease management morons by frequenting this city owned property after experiencing first-hand how terribly city staff treated the owners of the Green Lion. They completely mishandled the prolonged lease agreement renewal, turning what should have been a routine negotiation into a huge debacle that alienated many citizens who have been loyal customers of that fine restaurant for more than five years. Don’t waste your time trying to convince me to go to the new restaurant when it opens. I avoid various eateries for various reasons, some personal just like my vow to never eat at the city owned golf course again, regardless of what restaurant opens there. I will just wait until the Marlow’s newest restaurant replacing the Green Lion opens next month in Flagler Beach, and then I will happily salute their new venture with a glass of wine and a delicious meal while I greet the wonderful servers who I’ve gotten to know over the last several years at their former location. I don’t wish the owners of the restaurant that is taking the Green Lion’s place bad luck when they move in there… they will just be doing business without me warming one of their chairs. That’s life.
Absolutely Ridiculous says
The negativity towards Loopers has nothing to do with the owners or staff. This whole situation has left a bad taste with the residents and the people who have been going to the Green Lion regularly after golf, for lunch, dinner, celebrations and brunch.
The entire situation was a complete disaster thanks to those bozos that somehow got elected.
Dave says
That’s cool, if you can find a place to even park to go eat there during the lunch hour.
Flaglergal says
The last I heard was the city wanted 3000 a month and Green Lion said no. Now they made an agreement with the new restaurant for 1500. Maybe they realized the asking rent was too high. Maybe Green Lion would have stayed if they were offered the deal. Who knows.
Jamie is a great guy, very good people skills and I love the Beachfront. I am sure he’ll have a great restaurant to replace the last excellent one. I wish him much luck.
However, the city stinks for how they handled the whole thing.
FlaglerLive says
Flaglergal’s numbers are somewhat off. The rent was always going to be roughly $1,500 a month. The Green Lion objected to the addition of certain utility costs (water specifically) after agreeing to the addition of other utilities. What the city ended up asking the Green Lion to pay in total is similar to what Loopers will pay.
Concerned Citizen says
The only one at fault in this entire situation is the City Of Palm Coast. If they had stayed away from this type of adventure no one would be in this predicament. Instead they failed to learn from the County’s debacle with Captains.
Don’t fault Jamie for seeing another business opportunity in a community he greatly cares about. Before you get mad and penalize him give him a chance.
If you really want to get mad point fingers and hold accountability start by looking at our city and county leadership. Who keep doing the same thing over and over again.
