The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for all of Flagler County from 12:36 to 1:30 op.m. Monday.
The warning is also in effect for eastern Putnam and all of St. Johns counties.
The line of thunderstorm bearing down on the coastal region is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, as well as dangerous lightning. At 12:36 p.m., the storm front stretched in a crescent from northwest of Palatka to southwest of Seville and was moving northeast at 20 mph.
Severe storms can damage property and, as in yesterday’s lightning strike against a house in Flagler Beach, start property and brush fires. Authorities strongly recommend staying in interior rooms during a severe storm.
