A 66-year-old man was in serious condition following a wreck on Old Kings Road, about a mile north of Town Center Boulevard in Palm Coast, at noon today.
The Palm Coast man, whose identity is not yet available, was taken by ground to Halifax hospital in Daytona Beach, though Flagler County Fire Flight, the emergency helicopter, had at first been sent near the scene.
The man was driving a Nissan pick-up truck south on Old Kings. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper at the scene said that for unknown reasons, he veered off and slammed into a tree, striking it head on. The pick-up was totaled.
“They seem to think it was a medical condition,” the trooper said.
Flagler County Fire Rescue and the Palm Coast Fire Department responded, as did the Palm Coast Fire Police, which controlled traffic. Northbound traffic was closed at Town Center Boulevard for more than two hours after the wreck as the scene was being investigated.

I am on this road every day more than once. I set my cruise control and they speed around me over double yellow lines. I am surprised there are not more wrecks.
