Gamble Jam: Musicians of all ages can bring instruments and chairs and join in the jam session, 2 to 4 p.m. Note that in a temporary change from the regular schedule, Gamble Jam will be the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month through August 17. Grace Community Food Pantry, 245 Education Way, Bunnell, drive-thru open today from noon to 3 p.m. The food pantry is organized by Pastor Charles Silano and Grace Community Food Pantry, a Disaster Relief Agency in Flagler County. Feeding Northeast Florida helps local children and families, seniors and active and retired military members who struggle to put food on the table. Working with local grocery stores, manufacturers, and farms we rescue high-quality food that would normally be wasted and transform it into meals for those in need. The Flagler County School District provides space for much of the food pantry storage and operations. Call 386-586-2653 to help, volunteer or donate.

Notably: Here are the people for whom the Florida governor ordered public flags at half mast this year: Saint Charlie Kirk of course, Geraldine Thompson (the Democrat who served in the legislature until this year; she died in February), Lincoln Diaz-Balart (the Republican legislator who also served in Congres until 2011), for the one-day remembrance of the Parkland school massacre. On Jan. 20, the governor ordered flags raised back to full staff, even though it was the mourning period for Jimmy Carter. He did so “for the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.” The flags were also lowered in early January for former Gov. Buddy McKay. Flags were not ordered lowered for the murder of Minnesota Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman, a Democrat, or Bill Moyers, a liberal who was about a billion times the free speech icon Kirk could possibly be, a humanist (that Kirk never was) and a thinker who made us all think (ditto), or for any of the 47 school shootings so far this year, or for the 312 mass shootings so far this year.

The flag, as it happens, was designed by a native. It is lyrically simple, the most beautiful of all American flags. On its dark-blue field, gold stars form the constellation of the Great Bear. Above that is the North Star. Nothing else, as the designer explained, is needed to represent Alaska. It was the flag of the Territory for more than thirty years. Alaskans requested that it become the flag of the ne state. The designer was a thirteen-year-old Aleut boy.
