Harrison Wilker, 18, of St. Augustine, was killed early this morning in a single-vehicle crash on State Road 16 near Masters Drive in St. Augustine, the Florida Highway Patrol report.
Wilker was a passenger in a 1997 Porsche Boxster driven by 21-year-old Jesse B. Viva, a St. Johns River State College student and resident of St. Augustine. Viva was traveling west on SR16, west of Masters Drive. According to FHP’s preliminary investigation, “The Boxster left the road, colliding through a chain link fence and metal sign.” The Boxster then overturned, ejecting Wilker, who, according to the crash report, was not wearing a seat belt. The car ended against a wooden utility pole on the westbound shoulder of State Road 16.
Viva sustained minor injuries.
The crash took place at 1 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 28).
Wilker, an avid skateboarder and student at Florida Virtual School, according to his Facebook profile, was transported to Flagler Hospital, where he died. FHP is still investigating the crash and charges are pending.
