Dear FlaglerLive.com Reader,
The current servers used by FlaglerLive.com can no longer keep up with all of the traffic visiting and absorbing all that is available at the site. So, FlaglerLive.com is taking a few hours’ hiatus today and possibly through the night while jumping off to a more powerful server that will meet current demand and projected growth for the foreseeable future. We ask for your indulgence.
And your help.
The increasing demands draw on increasing resources that are made possible only through your support. To stay around and continue to grow, FlaglerLive.com needs you—your involvement, your contributions. We have advertisers. But this is a non-profit news site. Your donations are critical.
The site will always be free. But please consider becoming a supporter by automatically donating $1 a month. That’s all we ask: $1 a month. Of course, if you subscribe for more, we’d be delighted. It’s a quick transaction, you only need to do it once, and set it for automatic contributions once a month after that. It’s not much at your end. It makes a big difference at this end. And it’s the only way this site will survive, and the coverage you’ve come to depend on will continue.
Consider, for a moment, the institutions that make up this great community of ours. Think about the parks and trails, the beach, the shorelines, the schools and libraries, even the shops and restaurants. How many of them have 2,000 visitors each day? How many 4,000 or 5,000 visitors a day, day after day after day?
FlaglerLive.com has already become one of the enduring institutions of our community and is visited by more than 5,500 visitors each and every day! We’ve all learned to depend on FlaglerLive.com to find out what’s going on around town and around the block. Keeping up with the boards and commissions of our government, our businesses and schools, our fires, our crime scenes, our tragedies and our triumphs, FlaglerLive.com is the back fence where we share our thoughts and ideas with our neighbors and learn more about them, about us and about our town. Whether or not you agree with the occasional opinion piece, you always have a place to make your views known in the richest, most diverse and dynamic community forum in this county.
How much did you ever pay for daily newspaper on your porch, lawn or driveway? Almost as much as your basic cable rate. Go back and look up, at FlaglerLive.com an article from last November. Then, go to the website of your favorite ink and paper news source and search for an article from last November. Try to retrieve it and you’ll find a charge of $2.50 or more! How about, when you look back, simply donating $1 or $2 to FlaglerLive.com?
Flagler County depends on FlaglerLive.com to be our watchdog over politics and businesses, our regional and state leaders, errant organizations and sinister establishments. When you support us financially, you are guaranteeing that the security of our community will always be in good hands. Act now to insure the future of FlaglerLive.com
Sincerely,
Merrill Shapiro

Well said. You’ve inspired me to take the plunge and become a monthly subscriber….something I’ve been meaning to do for months. And I really like the easy way it’s been setup and the options given…especially that they include PayPal as well as cards.
