Firefighters were called to the Flagler County jail at 5:45 this afternoon in response to a minor fire reported in the facility’s laundry room.

No evacuations were reported. The fire was declared to be out swiftly, but there was heavy smoke in the laundry area.

Flagler County Fire Rescue 51 and Rescue 41 and Engine 92 were at the scene, among others. No cause is yet available for the fire.

The incident was over by 6:06 p.m., with all fire units released from the scene.

The fire is believed to have started in a drier, with no malicious intent.
