It is a sampling of reported incidents in the Flagler County area. Note: The U.S. legal system provides the presumption of innocence to those charged with a crime until guilt is proven in a court of law.

Pharmacy Robbed

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about an early morning robbery of a Palm Coast pharmacy on Mother’s Day, May 9. A man described as a white male wearing blue jeans and a gray sweatshirt with a black baseball hat escaped after he demanded, and received, an unspecified amount of painkillers, according to a May 10 news release. The man did not show or imply he had a weapon, the release said.  The robbery occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. and anyone with information is asked to call the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 313-4911.

 Car Stereo Stolen at Local Motel

A car stereo was taken from a Palm Coast woman’s car during the early morning hours of May 9, according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report. The woman’s car was parked in a rear lot at the Sleep Inn on Kingswood Drive that morning. It’s believed the burglar entered the vehicle through an unlocked rear door of the Geo Prizm, the report said.

30 Minutes to Gone

He set the pressure washer outside of the Shell convenience store just before midnight May 9 and went inside. The gas station employee was only inside for a little more than 30 minutes, but he returned to find the machine gone, a report said. Surveillance footage for the area of the theft wasn’t available.

Trailer Burglarized at Marble Shop

Two handheld grinders valued at $300 were taken from two trailers owned by Continental Granite & Marble on U.S. 1 near Bunnell May 9.  The locks were removed from the trailers, the report said. However, the business building  itself was not tampered with or entered, the report said. 

Park Vandalized

Several picnic tables were turned on end and another was taken apart completely at James Holland Park on Florida Park Drive, a park employee reported May 7.  Siding was also removed from the exterior of a bathroom facility, the report said.  The cost to repair the damages wasn’t documented in the report.

More Credit Card Fraud

Two Palm Coast men reported on May 7 and 8 that hundreds of dollars in unauthorized charges were made using their bank cards. A charge of $150 was made at a 7-Eleven in Texas on one man’s card, which he said never left his possession. More than $211 in charges were made at 7-Eleven stores in Sanford on the other man’s bank card, the report said. His card was also still in his possession, the man told deputies.

 Party Crashed by Deputies

An 18-year-old Palm Coast resident was arrested and hauled to jail after deputies responded to a party of more than 20 people drinking and partying in his Coleridge Court home May 8. Many of the partygoers under the legal drinking age, the report said. The teen was charged with hosting an open house party, a charging affidavit said.

 Domestic Violence

A Holly Hill man visiting his girlfriend in Palm Coast was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence battery the afternoon of May 6. When a deputy showed up at the woman’s home, she was huddled on the floor, in pain, according to a police report. The woman said an altercation over money led her fiancee to kick her in the stomach, at which point she called authorities. While she was on the phone, her fiancee left the house but was pulled over on Seminole Woods Boulevard, taken to the Flagler County jail and charged with one count of battery.

Shattered Windshield on Radium Lane

A Russian man living at 21 Radium Lane summoned police on May 6 to report the shattering of his son’s 1997 Mercury Sable Station Wagon’s rear windshield shattered, possibly by a BB pellet or an air gun. The man believed the incident took place on April 18 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. while his son, a truck driver, was out of town. The man, who speaks little English, opted to report the incident at the courthouse, but was told to return home and report it to a deputy there.

Habitual Traffic Violator

At 10:35 the morning of May 6, a deputy clocked a motorcyclist going 57 in a 45mph near St. Joe’s Plaza on Palm Coast Parkway. The motorcyclist, Ricardo Perez of Palm Coast, was pulled over at the Kangaroo gas station. He said his driver’s license had been suspended, according to the police report. The deputy’s check of his record revealed that Perez ‘s license had been revoked for one year in February 2008 for using a vehicle in connection with a felony, and that the license was revoked in May the same year for habitual traffic violations. (Driving on suspended license for habitual traffic violations is a felony.) Perez was booked into the Flagler County jail and released on $500 bond, and his 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle towed.

 DUI Arrests

 In 2008, an estimated 11,773 people were killed in automobile crashes involving a drunk driver (someone with a blood alcohol content level of .08 or more), according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Soon, a varying list of traffic and law enforcement agencies will begin releasing the DUI data they compiled in 2009. Whether drunk driving’s annual death toll rose or fell last year, the number isn’t likely to be the only acceptable one…zero.  These reportedly impaired drivers were also found driving on Flagler’s streets this week and were arrested.
