The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon released an edited version of the 911 call received from 25A Brunswick Lane in Palm Coast Monday morning, the scene of a home invasion that led to the shooting of one of three suspects and the arrest of all three after a brief manhunt for two of them. The third was airlifted to Halifax Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head after Daniel Floyd, one of the two residents of the house, shot him.
“We just had three guys try to break into our house. One of them [unintelligible] and my boyfriend shot him, and he’s in our yard right now,” Susan Rogers says, out of breath. She describes a confusing scene, the suspects kicking in the door, one of them running into her bedroom (the one who was shot), and the caller asking for police assistance. The recording is jumpy from being apparently heavily edited.
“Are you injured?” the dispatcher asks Rogers.
“No, ma’am, no ma’am, just very scared,” Rogers says. “We’ve already had someone try to break into our house in the back, I don’t know if it’s the same one.”
After trying telling the caller that she couldn’t describe them, Rogers says, “We’ve got one right now.”
“You have one of them on the ground right now?”
“Yes ma’am.”
The full released recording is below.
The sheriff’s office also released police reports that shed additional details on Monday’s incident–and some differing details from those initially released by the sheriff’s office. On Monday, the office said that the three men had broken into the house looking for the resident’s room-mate. When Floyd told them the room-mate wasn’t there, the men were said to have fled, and one of them was shot in the back of the head by Floyd.
The charging affidavit for Antonieo Hudson, 20, one of the three suspects, describes Hudson and the two other men kicking in the door. Once inside, Hudson brandished and held the firearm to the head of Floyd and Rogers, then handed the gun to another suspect, Tre Quan Cobb, 18, “so he could look for narcotics,” the affidavit states.
“While Tre had the gun he told Susan that he did not want to hurt a female but would if he had to,” the affidavit continues. “After all the defendants were finished rummaging through the house they attempted to flee the house. As they were leaving the residence, Daniel was able to grab his 9 mm handgun and fired a shot at the suspects. The shot grazed Tre (co-defendant) in the back of the head. After Tre was hit he fell face first in the driveway, as the others got in their white van and left. As Tre lay in the driveway, Daniel held him at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.”
The 911 call’s audio is below, the three charging affidavits are below that.
