FlaglerLive Editor Pierre Tristam’s weekly commentaries are broadcast on WNZF on Fridays just after 9 a.m. Here’s this week’s.
It’s been a week—or an eternity—of embarrassments for the human race, though for once fate’s sense of humor was as well-timed as a Johnny Carson joke: the running gag over Barack Obama’s birth certificate culminated at the same time as that other gag known as the British monarchy. Unfortunately, neither Obama releasing proof of his whereabouts on his first day of Genesis nor the marriage of William and Kate plus 8,000 television anchors is likely to put an end to either charade.

We’re living through something like a reverse Renaissance, a retro dark age where faith in manufactured fictions becomes more powerful than fact. That a sizable portion of Americans believe Obama was not born in this country is no different than the sizable portion of Americans who think he’s Muslim, or the equally sizable portion of Americans who to this day think Saddam Hussein plotted the 9/11 attacks or that those weapons of mass destruction will turn up one of these days and prove the Iraq invasion sham right after all, or the even more sizable portion of Americans who don’t know their socialism from their Medicare. If people want to believe in their prejudices, they’ll invent the stories to make those prejudices stick. Blacks didn’t endure 400 years of slavery because white Americans had a knack for the rational.
The birther thing wouldn’t be an issue if we didn’t have that very silly clause in the Constitution that requires a person to be a natural born citizen of the United States to be eligible for president. That, too, was the product of a darker age when the same constitution could bar more than three quarter of the population, counting women, blacks, Indians—those other natural born citizens—and anyone without property from voting or holding office. All those restrictions thankfully withered away. The prohibition against an immigrant becoming president in the land of immigrants somehow survives. But if Arnold Schwarzenegger could rule over California, the eighth largest economy in the world, why couldn’t he run for president? How is Austria any different than, say, the Panama Canal zone, swiped by the United States once upon a time and where John McCain was born, though no one raised an issue about that when he hobbled his way through the presidential campaign.
And what if Obama had had the misfortune of being a tiny bit older, being born in Hawaii two years before he actually did, and before Hawaii became a state? What if he doctored his age? What if he is, in fact, a Muslim, and a practicing one at that? It really makes no difference whether Obama was born in Hawaii, Kenya or Greenland, anymore than it makes a difference whether he believes in God, Allah or something Wiccan, or nothing at all. What matters are the dismal political and economic realities we’re living with right now, and how to get through them. As Obama put it this week, “We’re not going to be able to do it if we just make stuff up and pretend that facts are not facts. We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by sideshows and carnival barkers.”
But carnival barkers get higher ratings. To wit: the British monarchy, yin to birthers’ yang. These people cost British taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars a year to keep up a pretense that should have been abolished centuries ago. Not that unelected heads of state are ever legitimate. There is no more legitimacy to the House of Windsor than there is to those unelected monarchs and presidents who’ve been making life hell for 300 million Middle Easterners. The fortunate difference is that the British monarchy has no power except to waste money and give souvenir manufacturers a boost. Somehow because Elizabeth II endears and endures and, unlike the rest of her family, doesn’t make tampon jokes or get drunk in public, the monarchy is preserving a hint of dignity. But she’s the last façade over a recurring royal blush that should be put out of its misery. Her funeral, when it comes soon, should be the last of the great, pointless displays of ostentation. People like their fairy tales. But give me the Magic Kingdom over the House of Windsor any day.
Oh, wait, this just in, an actual ABC News email alert that popped up as I was writing this piece this morning: “Kate Middleton Wears Wedding Gown by Sarah Burton,” of Alexander McQueen’s fashion house. I kid you not. We had 300 people killed by tornadoes in Alabama yesterday, the American economy is slowing back down to a crawl, bloodbaths continue in Libya, Syria and Afghanistan and Japana’s nuclear hell is still getting hotter even as it’s been bumped off the front page, but this is what commands a news alert: Kate Middleton’s wedding gown. And we wonder why birthers could command this nation’s attention for as long as they did.

I read your commentary with interet. I like to say this, first I used to admire Donald Trump as a brash risk taker, but his demand for Obama to produce his birth certificate earned Trump a lot of contempt on this side of the Atlantic. What difference it makes whether an elected president was born in Hawaii or in Okinawa as long as he has the American nationality and has been elected by the American people. As for his religion I agree with you it should not be a factor.
As regards the wedding, it is a joyous occasion and brought happiness to lot of people. Believe it or not there were Americans who selpt on the street all night to secure a good viewing position. I learnt from English commentators on TV that Kate “is a contemporary modern girl”, also that every mother would dream of seeing her daughter married to a prince” and the Sky News commentator said “these two are genuinely in love”. You live and learn.
Finally Pierre, you say the royalty costs hundreds of million of dollars to keep. The royalty is a major tourist attraction. some 16 billion English Pounds (22 billion dollars) were earned from tourism during 2010. Abolishing the monarchy is like shooting oneself in the foot before taking the socks off.

Both Medicare and Social Security were inflicted upon us and sold as “insurance.” The very thing Obama is so concerned that the great unwashed don’t have and he’s determined to supply at the cost of destroying the insurance industry and severely limiting health care for all of us.
The fact is that indigent already have health care — it’s called Medicaid and unlike Medicare, recipients never paid a cent for it. It’s been provided for them by the generous American taxpayer, an entity becoming scarcer by the hour as socialist policies are destroying our economy.
Congratulations to readers of this blog as well as the author. You are excellent examples of public school attendees who have learned their propaganda lessons well.
What they didn’t teach you at the government school is what happens when more people are on the take than on the give. That time is just about here and it won’t pretty.

As always, we have the self appointed “Czar of Flagler” telling us how screwed up Americans are, why our laws and constitution are all wrong. As always the” Czar of Flagler” has pointed out all of our faults some true ,some not .But he continues to live under these God awful conditions. He is right; it makes no difference if Obama was/was not born in the USA, it makes no difference except it is the current law. I guess if we use the czar’ s reasoning we could do away with the right to vote, throw away equal rights allow the president to serve for however long he wants. Contrary to the “Czar of Flagler” not allowing anyone do oppose his liberal crap we still live in America and not some middle east country that does not allow freedom of speech; such as the ones he makes reference to that are at war.. True, some take this freedom to the a very strange and dark place, while others take it to a only apply to their way of thinking, case being this article. As the “Czar of Flagler” has said many times; if you do not like the views of Flagler Live go somewhere else and get your news. I guess that holds true across the board, if you don’t like our laws, try to change them or go somewhere else. I guess I know why the czar wants the Magic Kingdom over the House of Windsor, that is where Goofy lives and birds of a feather flock together.

notasenior: don’t know if the the man carrying the sign collect Social Security that he paid into or not. Has no bearing on his right to say right or wrong what he wants to say. We still contrary, to the current crew of crooks in Washington have that freedom and all the liberals in the world cannot stop that. We still ,contrary to the the liberal press have a right to oppose what we think is wrong, that is the facts as I see them.

lawabidingciizen: well said, last year 45% of the people living in the USA did not pay any federal tax. That means 55% of the people are caring the other 45%, how long will that last? no one in the USA is without health care of some kind, I don’t care what crap the liberals are trying to sell today.
Dorothea says
dlf, the earned income tax credit for working poor families was instituted by President Gerald Ford, a Republican. George Bush, a Republican, lowered taxes to such a point that, indeed 45% of Americans pay no federal income tax. Bush did this while spending gazillions on wars and an unfunded private insurance Medicare drug plan that is draining the original, single payer and successful Medicare program. So while your railing against liberals, remember exactly who did what.
dlf says
Dorothea: there you go again, not wanting to have the the King own up to being the King. Bush ,Ford and Clinton are long gone and there are some liberals in each party, just more with the King. When in the hell are you going to start telling us anything the King as done in over two years, just name one thing besides the screwed up social medical program that no one knows where it is going if anywhere. Just name one thing, the prison in Cuba is still open, we are in another war, unemployment went up again this week. Please just name me one thing the King has done to help the middle class, as far as that is any class; the middle, the higher, or the lower, one lousy thing. Own up to his failure a lot of people who voted for the King are jumping ship, wonder why? One of these days you and the King will need to face the truth and stop blaming everyone else. Tell me how long it will be before you agree that the King is in charge and need to start doing his job, how long three, four years how long before we start seeing positive results. My bet is you will still me making excuses for his poor performance until his last day in office. One thing he will do is repalce Carter has the worst President in modern history.

I guess the one where he has made more trips then any other President is true, he has done that with no results. You gave me some phony list ,now give me the results of all this BS, numbers, dollars, jobless rate, lower home value, more inflation, gas prices now that is the real numbers we are interested in. Not some empty promise. He cannot even bury the dead heroes in their correct graves, he has given millions of dollars in the form of tax returns to people in prison. Results ,results, give me the numbers on what all his busy work has done, that number is zero and you know it. Oh I forgot he and the First Lady want us all to eat the right foods, while he eat pizza, hot dogs and ribs on Super Sunday. Have the kids used the swing set yet and is it safe?

Doroththea: Good job on the list., I guess the Dr Watson you got the list from is the same Dr. Watson that was going to run for the House of Representatives in 2005 in Florida and dropped out for some reason, like he was told he could not win? The list you provided was interesting and needless to say a little blown out of portion. I was amazed the King had done so much. So I did a little quit and concise research and came up with some interesting numbers/facts. Of all the items Dr. Watson provides 26% were where the King suggested or recommends something be done, has not been completed or in some cases started, 7% were items all ready being done, 4% were things the King did in fact do, 6% were false he has not done them, 23% called for more spending, 3% less spending, 5% may reduced jobs, while 3% may increase jobs, 11% were things that come with the job, things we pay him to do and 5% were just out and out crap. I will continue to look into this list and see if we can improve on the things that are important to the average American, like jobs, gas prices, home value, inflation and government spending. in place of most trips made by a President, redoing the White House or hiring 5-10 czars at a cost of $500,000 to $1,000,000 in tax payers money. I guess if I had 10 more people helping me do my job I should get a lot more then 94 items done in over two years, which by the way comes out to be 5.5 items per day based on working 5 day a week for two years, not counting the swing set.
Dorothea says
Dlf, you will have to be more specific in the stats which were made up by you, an avowed Obama hater. As I also stated the list is for the first six months, so that would be 22 items per day.

Here we go again. The triumverate of dlf, Kevin, and lawabidingcitizen spewing forth their toxic stew of willful ignorance, pulling bullshit out of their ass and telling us it’s strawberry shortcake.
Why don’t you morons, just once, have the courage to say what you really mean: “We don’t want no fucking nigger in the white house.”
I’ve never in my life seen a more vile and hateful bunch. “Czar of Flagler?” Are you fucking kidding me? Is that the best you’ve got?
Aside from being idiots, you’re blind to the truth, that truth being the fact that it makes not one scintilla of difference who is occupying the white house. Dim or repuke is irrelevant, because the same people are always running the show. The unelected powers that be, the spider’s web spun by, owned and operated by the richfilth is what is choking the life out of the republic. The MIC, the banksters, the mega-corporations, Oil, Pharma, big Ag. Those are the owners, the ones who set policy, who write the laws through their well-paid mouthpieces on K street, enacted through their bought and paid for whores on capitol hill. They are the enemies within. Rather than face this uncomfortable truth, your intellectually lazy demographic goes full bore at the low-hanging fruit, which makes you accomplices to the theft of our nation. Makes it rather pointless to beat your chest and blame everything on that uppity nigger when you realize he’s just a marionette like all the rest. Dumbya, slick willie, booosh the slightly smarter, raygun, all front men for the agenda. The last real president we had was JFK, and the owners showed the world what happens when a prez acts contrary to their interests.
So, by all means carry on with your dishonest projectionism. And don’t forget to smile when master flushes you down the shitter, along with the rest of us.
Pierre Tristam says
William, thanks for that flash of clarity on our holy trinity. dlf, I missed the memo on my self-appointment. Can you forward?
And Nehad, I’m sorry your introduction to the intellectual climate in this little shred of Florida had to so quickly live up to this state’s reputation as America’s banana-slipped republic. On the matter of tourism and the royals though: I don’t think abolishing the monarchy would make much of a difference. You’d only be abolishing the sustenance of the walking cadavers, not their legacy. Britain’s tourism industry would still reap the benefits of castle-and-pomp tourism. Look at the French. They’re not hurting for tourism dollars, and not just because Sarkozy thinks he’s Louis XIX.
Kevin says
Dorothea,
Your dear list seems to miss the fact that not everything implemented has been for the good of the country. More specifically, he is missing the really critical items that are necessary to save the dollar, increase job growth, reduce medical costs, (because the health care plan does indeed raise costs over time–CBO) Only an ignorant individual looks at those items as menaingful accomplishments when in fact many of them are window dressing and do nothing for our country besides grow government and increase the need to tax.
I’m sorry I don’t want to work for the government as its slave.
William,
William your the only one bringing race into the issue. No where do I say anything nor do I personally give a shit about his color. I do care about his allegences, which appear to be quite foreign and anti-american based on what he says and does, those are the facts–not assumptions like you use to try to brand me with. I thought you were a sharp guy that was intellectually honest in debates?
“Idiots.” —This appears to be your final hand ever time… personal attacks, never facts or truth.
You seem to think you have cornered the market as being the one with the answers as all else are “toxic stew.” Is it your logic that Obama is not failing on the items that I mentioned earlier? In what way specifically and quote me please, do I make myself out to be a racist or where for that matter, do I sink to any level of speech, outside of calling someone out for what they said already, that justifies my being called racist or indicate myself being one who is an idiot? Print away my friend. In the end your just an ugly, tainted old fart. Pierre indicates his ignorance by giving you the reach around as he he did just now. Typical of libs like yourselves. Insult and act repugnantly, but hypocritically accuse others of it every chance you get. Your a joke.
Your responses and those like Dorothea’s are why there will never be a meeting of the minds– you have shown more hatred, race baiting, and intolerance than anything DLF or I have ever comitted to in words.
Pierre—that’s fun for you huh– holy trinity? You sit on your pompous seat, which I rarely make reference to you ever just out of respect, and you dare make comment like that. I’m not some uneducated loser but obviously but dolts treat and act as if we are, which shows a high level of ognorance of those involved. I am just amazed with your comments.

Kevin, you complain about Obama’s policies, because “he is missing the really critical items that are necessary to save the dollar, increase job growth, reduce medical costs”. What do you put forth as viable options for handling these issues?

Thanks Pierre for commenting on my comment. First I am fascinated by the slanging match between the participants. Some of the comments would not be published in mainstream news websites as they contravene laws and regulations. Back to tourism. The royalty in UK has the support of 80 percent of the population who would like it to continue. Their gossip diverts the nation from the verbal battles in Parliament. The Royalty provides continuity of tradition, stability, colour, pageantry and spectacle. I have no problem with that. Most people like it even people from other continents. Only the most hardened cynics did not enjoy the wedding ceremony yesterday. I kept away from London on Friday to avoid the crowds and the hype but saw it on TV whilst working on my computer or helping the wife in the kitchen.
The Britih Press has devoted many pages to the pictures of the wedding and tomorrow’s Sundays will be full of speculation about the secret honeymoon destination yet to be announced. Why not. It takes our mind off Libya, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, the economy, the price of gas, Nato, EU, USA, Hugo Chavez, Guantanamo, Wikkileaks, Oprah, Judge Judy, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News.

Williams: said like a true liberal, when ever anyone does not agree with Obama or questions his performance we are doing so because of his race, get a new comeback if you are smart enough to, the race card does not work anymore. You certainly knew the right words, must come from practice. The bottom line what ever his race he is not doing the job and you agreed in a round about manner, no backbone is a trait of the liberal group along with a low IQ
dlf says
Pierre: like Obama’ s Czar there is not announcement it just happens, you are the Czar of Flagler Beach and of course the guiding light for all of us Americans who don’t follow the liberal agenda, who don’t get upset about a marriage in the United Kingdom and who care less if the Middle East is over taken by the Brotherhood or some other whack group. Keep up the good work, it is a good supply of humor during these dark days of uncertainty.

Well said nehad ismail! The British people love their monarchy right now, and are proud to see them doing public service. I think most of America, or at least the women, had to sneak a peek at the ceremony reruns to see the Princess bride.
When Queen Elizabeth is gone, this may change.
Kyle Russell says
DLF – Generalizations abound! If you’re going to go with that logical fallacy, I’ll take argumentum ad hominem. Your claim that liberals have no backbone and have low IQs is idiotic. I don’t argue with people that make idiotic claims, because I assume that they are idiots, and that’s simply not fair. Therefore, I concede all future arguments with you out of pity.
I hope you gain much pleasure from this win, because my quitting is the only way you will ever win an intellectual debate.
kevin says
Hey Kyle don’t try to pin it on me to come up with the solutions, in one day, today, on this blogosphere although you probably fancy yourself as crafty for what I see as you dimwhittingly saying such. Let the POTUS you worship do it since it is people like you who have proclaimed him to be the smartest man ever. Let him please produce something in line with the superior mind he has, as he has been reported and worshipped by those on your side. Is it not Obama that has been reported as the proverbial holder of the Holy Grail of ideas and intellect? Maybe he can come up wioth something good like our entering a new war against a despot. Sound familiar. He does one thing yet condemns others for the same actions…Saddam is the clue since you don’t seem particularly bright.
I see your just another name caller (throwing around the idiot word but not having a clue as to what the education and knowledge the person your referring to has). All I am doing is following your lead with the insults so don’t mind it too much. You seem to think of yourself as some sort of logician as well, which is particularly funny given your poorly supported positions and statements. Using your so called logic you’ll go unreplied to henceforth using your rationale for doing such: not talking to idiots.
Kyle Russell says
I was genuinely asking you a question, and I’m sorry if it came off as “Well you do better!”. I wasn’t asking you what your solutions were, but rather which solutions you support. I don’t agree with most of what Obama does (he has a tendency to engage in policies half-heartedly).
As for you claims about my intelligence, let me claim otherwise. I’ll even bring some support: ranked first in the senior class of FPC, attending the University of California, Berkeley (oh no, a liberal haven!), AP Scholar, National Federation of Independent Businesses Young Entrepreneur, American Legion Boys State attendee, etc.
Going back to why I claimed David is an idiot, his statement that liberals have no backbone/low IQs is clearly a false generalization. I wouldn’t have even brought it up if it weren’t a logical fallacy, and I pointed out that my name calling was wrong (ad hominem), and it was meant to demonstrate that arguing using such methods is pointless.

As soon as I read Pierre’s piece, I knew it would bring out the worst of the uneducated bigots among us. And sure enough, dlf didn’t disappoint. (do you suppose that’s dlf in the pic??) But, what I didn’t expect was to read your rebuttal, William. What a wonderful ly lucid surprise!
Pierre’s article & William’s comment just go to show that the entire world has not yet gone insane, dlf et al notwithstanding.
dlf says
Kyle:you are right ,I went a little to far in my statement on backbone and IQ. When I read what William implies that I do not want a” fucking nigger in the White House” I felt, and still do that ,that was a remark from someone with a very low IQ. Then in a round about way implies that he is not happy with Obama I felt and still do that, that was a spineless comment to make, either you approve or do not. I don’t need someone like William to place words in my mouth. I was referring to William and any liberal using the race card as spineless and low IQ. I think many of us who do not approve of Obama and his performance are growing tired of being called a racist just because we don’t kiss his ring. I take no joy in what you call winning, I just think we all have the right to our say ;without being call a racist or spineless or low IQ. I withdraw my off the wall statement that all liberals are spineless low IQ……….except for William, sorry.
William says
“…no backbone is a trait of the liberal group along with a low IQ” – dlf
Considering the fact that you still consider me, for whatever reason, an Obummer apologist, or fan, or whatever calls your IQ into question, because it suggests you cannot read. I have, and continue to, voice my total and complete disappointment with BHO. He is a sell-out like all the rest, and this is where you completely miss the point. You and Kevin spend so much time trying to beat me down on minutiae (which you never will, as I do have backbone) while failing to address the issue of the game being rigged. To once again invoke the words of the late, great George Carlin:
“Forget politicians. They’re irrelevant. They exist to give you the illusion that you have a choice. You don’t have a choice. You have owners.”
If you require any further proof that we live in a corporocracy, consider Thursday’s SCOTUS ruling which took away consumer’s rights to class-action suits. How about Citizens United? Telecoms get a pass for illegal wiretapping? BP (a foreign corporation) gets to set the rules on information dissemination, with local, state and federal law enforcement subscribing to their wishes? Wall Street and the bankster cartel crash the economy by way of overt fraud, yet no-one is looking at prison time?
I could go on and on, but a dispassionate reading of the facts would indicate clearly that our government no longer serves the will of the people. Racism is merely a tool which allows the owners to distract from the real issues, a wedge issue to keep us arguing among ourselves, while they rob us blind. If you and Kev feel I’ve painted with too broad a brush, get over it. I see enough racism on a daily basis to last a lifetime.
If you want to have a conversation about what it is that is corroding our country, let’s go for it. Ignoring fact is spineless.
Kevin says
Kyle,
I appreciated the comments of the second article. Congrats if all you said is true, I have no reason to call you a liar. However DLF very often gets slammed and is branded a racist, among many other insults, for innocuous comments such as those he made. He is a decent individual from what I see and rightfully made his comments in response to garbage being thrown at him. Instead he apologizes, even then he’ll get attacked. See it for yourself.
Look at the tripe this “concernedsays” about him with nothing to back it up except for for more ad hominem comments. What you see is the one constant among those of the left and espeically the socialist/leftists out there. They think no one catches their BS and therfore equate insults as debate lines thinking they are winning the war of words and giveing them the intellectual highground.
Well maybe oneday this society will get down to axes and shields. At that time, I’ll burrow my tools deep in to the brow of the loudmouths on the otherside or get it good while trying. Surely I’ll take out a few. But one can only wish…
NortonSmitty says
Oh, Kevin, you don’t know how long and deeply I have wished to have the opportunity to have a good, honest face to face battle for the Country I was raised to love. The one I fought and bled for, like my Father and his family has done since they arrived here in the 1700’s. The Land Grant signed by William Penn still hangs over my Aunt Madges mantle in a working class neighborhood even though it’s worth a small fortune.
My Uncles in my Mothers family fought in WW2 and Korea only because my Grandfather was lucky enough to make it to Ellis Island, escaping the Bolsheviks in 1919 after 5 years in a POW camp in Italy. As an Officer in the Czars’ cavalry, he would have been executed on site, but he still snuck back to the little town North of Odessa to steal my Grandmother away and take her to a new life in Pittsburgh. From the minute he arrived, the proud Cossack abandoned his heritage and centuries of recognition as the worlds greatest Horsemen and was now a proud American. My mother spoke often about how the only time they were permitted to speak Ukrainian was at Church and Sunday School. If they were caught speaking anything but English, they got a beating. “You are American, We speak American!” And so they did.
Fifty years in the Mills and mines, through wars, depressions, work and the Orthodox Church, they did their Damnedest to be happy and made a modest, hardworking American life for them all. Well except for Andy who died in Bastogne, and Russel in Anzio. And cousin Metro in a training accident in England joined my Fathers brother Lee who’s ship went down in the Pacific to whatever we should name the American Valhalla.
By the way, we should come up with a modern American equivalent of this beautiful and ancient Viking land where warriors who laid down there lives fighting for there homeland get to spend eternity eating, drinking and fornicating for their sacrifice. It is the least they deserve, and believing in this will not add one penny to our National Debt.
The reason I speak so personally of this part of me, my heritage, my history, my Bloodline as it is, is to attempt to show that I am a proud American. I come from a history of proud Americans. To my marrow I was raised to love this country above all. To Death if need be. My blood on both sides has proven it, as have I. I am not exceptional. I am an average citizen.
Yet, I have to sit here and type these words defending my “Patriotism” because of what I say. Because I believe the manner my country is fucking up is different from how others believe it is straying. And I can’t do it any more. We can disagree about the why, in fact I personally believe it’s too late to change it, we have been too stupid for too long and let it be stolen from us. (Well, not me personally but the rest of you Idiots).
But I will not stand for having my Patriotism, my Love of Country, questioned because I disagree with you on something you were led to believe by watching a network run by an Australian who owns the media in close to 100 countries all over the world and couldn’t care less what happens to our country as long as he makes billions.
It’s a shame, because there really is no argument that this is not the country we were led to count on as ours. The one we were led to believe put you, me and our families first. America isn’t in the hands of the American people any longer. Not one of us who pays attention to their own personal situation or their family or community can possibly think our government cares how or even if we manage to provide a life for ourselves or our families. We just disagree on the nature of the thief.
The jaded and hard-hearted among us, the die-hard partisan political hard line know it all geniuses who are so quick to strut and tell us how they watched Fox and Rush and BillO and Glenn and were educated by the Heritage Foundation and The Enterprise Institute and all we need to do to save us is to cut the corporate tax rate even though the biggest multinationals pay NO TAXES anywhere and what is really wrong with Our Beloved Country is Social Security is dragging us down and we have been told, TAaaaDummmm….
WHAT IS DESTROYING AMERICA IS THAT TEACHERS AND SNOW PLOW DRIVERS IN WISCONSIN WHOHAVEN’T BEEN SCREWED OUT OF THEIR PENSIONS AND BENEFITS LIKE THE REST OF US YET. IF WE FIX THIS, WE WILL BE THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD AGAIN!!!!
OK, If they would stop there, they are just Idiots. The world has always had Idiots. Always will. As someone got rich saying, You Can’t Fix Stupid. But….
But Kevin, But lawabidingcitizen, but dlf and all of the rest of you goose-stepping fascist idiotic propaganda swallowing fucksticks who vote and rail against your own best interests, who are stupid enough to dedicate your lives and your outrage to empower the multinational corporations, bankers and “Foreign Interests” to use you, allowing both Political Parties to fuck us by looting our treasury, military and livelyhoods in the name of Free Trade and Capitalism! Well, your kids deserve to be working in sweatshops, and they probably won’t be educated enough to realize that their Daddy made their miserable lives what they are. You should be ashamed.
I guess that the propaganda you buy into has been designed, presented and structured by experts that Joseph Goebbels could only dream of, so that can’t be held against you. If it didn’t appeal to the common man, they would redesign it until it did. So I can’t really hold that against you.
But I can’t tolerate you strutting idiots question my patriotism. Or let you get away with saying that because I won’t agree with your delusions, you want to bury your tool in my brow! Good luck with that Kevin.
Anyhow, it will give you something to dream about Pumpkin.
Dorothea says
Hey Nortion, you beat me to the punch, but with far more descriptive and humorous verbiage than I ever thought of.
Kevin’s comments are a load of sanctimonious, self-serving crap. He and his fellow wing-nuts spew out mountains of lies and distortions, not even bothering to respond when the false notions are refuted. Instead they resort to calling people names, questioning their intelligence, education, and even their health. Stop your whining, Kevin. If you want to make personal insults, don’t cry foul when your insults are returned in kind.
William says
Kevin,
You might want to recall the old saying: “Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it.”
Just sayin’….
JIM.R says
That has always been Kevins game, whining about personal insults, while he personaly insults others.
Kevin would like to get down to axes and shields but only if he has the axe and his opponent the sheild.
Kevin was kind of a loner in his ignorence on a former website run by Pierre, but it seems he has some fellow travelers here, well it just makes it more fun watching dummies expose their stupidity.
Kyle Russell says
Am I the only one here disturbed by the calls for violence?
JIM.R says
Norton Smitty
Today’s patriot is one who sees through the lies of our Govt. and knows that as MLK said , we are the greatest purveyors of violence in the world today.
Supporting the troops now should mean shaming them for doing the Empires dirty work, this will get you attacked , even though it is the truth. One of the most courageous things Pierre ever wrote addressed this , I will not mention the title of this article but he took a lot of abuse for it.
William says
@ Kyle,
This is the second time in recent memory where Kevin has alluded to what a badass he was/is/believes himself to be. Truly a legend in his own mind. A couple of facts I have learned in my travels are:
1. Violence is the lowest form of self-defense. It generally eminates from one who has already lost the argument. It is the hallmark of intellectual, spiritual, and moral bankruptcy.
2. If you underestimate your opponent, you have already lost.
Lessons which are not necessary to learn, but which tend to be visited upon those who live by false bravado.
William says
@ NortonSmitty
Terrific story, one I can certainly relate to as an immigrant who was proud to serve his country, and one who is dismayed by the direction our country is headed in. I once swore an oath to defend the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I have not recanted, and never will. You, I, and others recognize the enemy, and it is not the one sold by the hired-for-hairdo talking head circuses. The challenge, difficult though it may be, is to overcome the lies and distortions shouted by the hologram at their painfully ignorant target demographic.
The Roman Empire was destroyed from within. Sadly, I see history repeating itself.
Kevin says
Interesting NS what you mention of the rich history your family has. Its insane to see that you have all these issues with me yet blow hard pontificating about you caring so deeply for this nation and all your other bullshit with it when my grevience is with the way this administration is ripping it into pieces along with his associations. In addtion ass-wipe I’m no shrinking violet hardly and I’m hardly concerned about you at any level.
I never mind getting insults–I’ve said this a thousand times unfortunately my words mean something else to ignorant people like yourselves. It is the way you attack others, just as you’ve done from the onset here with DLF. I guess ad hominem means something else through the twisted mind of the common leftist. I have done nothing but condemn the actions of Union thuggery, Obama’s new war, etc. and yet all the vitriol is about me.
dlf says
Dorothea: I made have been a little hard on the list yo provided, maybe. So lets say all the things you say Obama did are true, all the way from paying to redo the White House or cash for clunkers. Now my question to you is if all these things are true why do have the following; Increasing unemployment, inflation, gas prices, people losing their homes, their retirement medical coverage going through the roof and another war on the brink of taking shape. I think you would agree that all these problems have not improved over the last two years. True, Obama took office when some of these issue were just happening. The fact remains, either he is working on the wrong problems, redoing the White House, cash for clunkers or excess travel or what he has done is not working, you be the judge on his performance. Things are not getting better and the day of reckoning is approaching.
NortonSmitty says
Well, at least the wingnut Batshit arm of the conservative movement stays consistent regardless of the facts.
Dorothea says
dlf, for starters:
Osama bin Laden was killed by our Special Ops on orders from President Obama, something that George Bush couldn’t do.
In addition, unemployment is going down, although Florida with its Republican and less than enlightened leadership is still struggling. Home-owners in foreclosure have options that allow them to keep their homes. I don’t know what you mean about medical coverage for senior going through the roof. But Medicare is being drained by an unfunded drug plan literally pushed through the Congress by George Bush. Oh, never mind, I’ve commented on all this countless times, but you just don’t get it.
dlf says
Dorothea: how do you figure the jobless rate is going down, look at the nationwide numbers. So we got Obama bin Laden, but that search was stated in the years Bush was in office. As you often blame all the the problems Obama has were started when Bush was in charge we can give some of the credit for Obama bin Laden killing to Bush, you cannot have it both ways. Could you go into detail on how the killing of bin Laden will help the people who have problems feeding their families and paying for gas. People are still losing their homes at a record pace, inflation is going up, gas prices are going up .You may want to wake up and look around you to see what the facts are, wake up and smell the *-hit But again I don’t think you really want to fact the facts that this guy has done anything to help the working people. By the way the misspelling ( if you caught it) was on purpose, before you waste your time telling me.
concerned says
@NortonSmitty – Thank you.
@Kevin – You did understand that you were included in my reference to ‘uneducated bigots’, imagine, and w/o me referencing your name or anything! Kudos!!
The truly educated become conscious. They become self-aware. They do not lie to themselves. They do not pretend that fraud is moral or that corporate greed is good. They do not claim that the demands of the marketplace can morally justify the hunger of children or denial of medical care to the sick. They do not throw 6 million families from their homes as the cost of doing business. Thought is a dialogue with one’s inner self. Those who think ask questions, questions those in authority do not want asked. They remember who we are, where we come from and where we should go. They remain eternally skeptical and distrustful of power. And they know that this moral independence is the only protection from the radical evil that results from collective unconsciousness. -Christopher Hedges-
Dorothea says
dlf, there is a tape shown on TV (except Fox, of course) of then President Bush answering a question about capturing bin Laden. His response was that he hardly thinks of bin Laden and that the guy is probably dead. Bush gave up the hunt and when he was searching, he searched in caves, not in “plain sight”. Unemployment is down and the stock market is up. The recovery is slow, but ongoing. Am I wrong, but are you so hateful of President Obama that you would wish that this country’s economy would collapse and that terrorists go free in order to justify this hatred?
dlf says
Dorothea : I do not wish any bad luck on anyone, I for one would love to see Obama succeed, if he does the only country will.My problem is some of the things you say he has done have not helped the economy, again maybe he is doing the wrong things and only the results will tell. I don’t know where you see unemployment going up, when I googled total unemployment the numbers are lower then two years ago. Yes, the stock market is up but still lower then two years ago. I think you would agree gas prices are higher, every day goods are higher and there are still more people losing their homes for what every reason. I have no hate for Obama, I do not agree with his plan of action, has nothing to do with the man. If McCain was showing these kind of results I would be saying the same thing and did so three years ago when Bush was the man. The results are what count no matter who they come from. I agree with you the recent action against bin Laden was a fine job done by ALL parties.
dlf says
Dorothea: Time magazine , May 16 issue just released the gross- domestic-product report for first quarter of 2011 Nearly every sector was down compared to three months ago; consumer spending down, business spending down, housing sector down, exports down, Federal spending down. Only one thing was up inflation. The information is in Time ,May 16 Economy Briefing. This si from one of the more liberal publications, I guess the results are still not there.
