Palm Coast’s 2017 Birds of a Feather Fest is scheduled for Feb. 10-12.

With more than 125 miles of hiking, biking and walking trails, miles of coastline, varied habitats and more than 200 identified species, Flagler County is a birder’s paradise. Few places offer as many wonderful opportunities to enjoy nature while being so connected, accessible and clean. With a focus on families, beginners and experts alike, this festival offers something for everyone.

The three-day birding and nature festival invites everyone to enjoy a weekend of birding, photography, workshops, nature art show, social events, and family activities in Peacee’s Kids Nest. Free beginner bird walks will be offered both Saturday and Sunday this year. Many other activities are free; some for a fee. Meet the Experts at our free reception Friday evening at Canfield’s, the restaurant at the Palm Harbor Golf Club.

This Year’s Lineup Features:

  • No registration fee, but field trips do have a fee.
  • Five Big Trips Featuring, including two trips to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Viera Wetlands, Sweetwater Wetlands, Lyonia Preserve
  • Birding trips and classes for all skill levels
  • All Day Family Fun Saturday, February 11th
  • Transportation provided on select big trips

Register for individual events here. A complete schedule for the Birds of a Feather Fest is at www.birdingfest.com.

Artists, Photographers invited to exhibit and sell at Birds of a Feather Fest Art Show: The festival is also seeking artists and photographers to exhibit their work at the Birds of a Feather Fest Art Show, to be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, indoors at Palm Coast City Hall.

The theme of the show is “Rooted in Nature,” and all entries should be related to nature (birds and other wildlife, landscapes, trails, waterways, the great outdoors).

There is no charge to participate. Artists can participate at the Exhibitor Level or the Vendor Level. Artists who would like to sell their works at the show will be required to attend the show to staff their display booth.

The deadline to apply for participation is Feb. 6. Complete guidelines and the entry form are available online at www.birdingfest.com.

The Birds of a Feather Fest Art Show is a new feature of the festival, and the Flagler County Art League is assisting the City in managing the show. It will be open to the public, as well as enjoyed by birders and nature lovers attending the festival. The Art Show will be held in the Community Wing of Palm Coast City Hall – right in the hub of activity for the festival. Admission to the Art Show will be free.

For more information about participating in the Art Show, contact Cindi Lane, Communications & Marketing Manager, at [email protected] and 386-986-3708.
