Neither Rain Nor Heat Nor Gloom Will Stop Today’s Miss Flagler County Pageant
It’s pageant time again.
Come rain or more rain, and there will be buckets of it, the annual Miss Flagler County Scholarship Pageant is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. this Sunday afternoon and at the Flagler Auditorium, with the Little Miss Flagler County division. Alexa Linn Gardner, last year’s winner in older girls’ division, will be relinquishing her crown when that part of the pageant begins at 7 p.m. This year’s queen will be sent to Miss Florida USA on July 14, 2013, as the delegate for Flagler County, at Bailey Concert Hall in Fort Lauderdale. The current Miss Florida is Lissette Garcia , a South Florida medical student who eats vegetables and chocolate, works out six times a day and–don’t try this at home, girls–is already thinking about cosmetic surgery “when,” she says, “gravity hits.”
Other 2011 Flagler County winners who’ll be passing on their crowns: Rayliana Giaccone is the 5-7 age category, Destiny Cole in the 8-11, and Shanna Mae Merceron in the 12-15.
The rain is no surprise. This year’s photo shoots in Flagler Beach were a drench of wind and skies more worthy of Hamburg than Florida. It took all we had to manipulate light in the pictures to something worthy of the contestants.
All the contestants in their respective divisions are introduced in the clickable chart below, which will take you to their individual pages and portraits, with thanks to Cheryl Tristam, who edited the photos and prepared pages and the galleries. Links to previous years’ pageants are also provided.
As always, the pageant is sponsored by Z-Wave Surf Shop in Flagler Beach.
Here’s Sunday’s lineup:
Little Miss Flagler County (ages 5-7 and ages 8-11), 3 p.m.
Miss Junior Flagler County (ages 12-15), 5 p.m.
Miss Flagler County (ages 16-22), 7 p.m.
Keep in mind, Miss Flagler County Pageant requires separate ticket from earlier pageants. Tickets are $5, and $3 for children 10 and under.

Funny moment during the 5 to 7 year old pageant: when one of the contestants was asked why she wanted to be Little Ms. Flagler County, she pulled no punches. “I want the crown!” she declared.
