Woody’s BBQ, the locally owned restaurant at Flagler Plaza on State Road 100, was the target of a burglary overnight Monday, resulting in minor damage. It is the first time in the restaurant’s 18 years that it’s been burglarized.

A Woody’s employee who was opening the store Monday morning discovered that two windows on the east side of the restaurant had been smashed in. The cash register normally on the counter directly next to the broken windows was still there, but its cash drawer, valued at $87, was missing, according to a Flagler County Sheriff’s incident report. A touch monitor that had been on the counter was on the floor, apparently broken.

The Sheriff’s Office concluded that the burglar attempted to take the drawer, which had been left open but empty, and while doing so caused the monitor to crash. Woody’s security footage “was reviewed but had nothing of value,” according to the report. The Kangaroo gas station and Winn Dixie’s surveillance footage was also reviewed, with the same results. A deputy lifted a print from the window.

The broken monitor was valued at $4,000, the broken windows at $700. Flagler Plaza has had its share of break-ins and robberies, namely at Sharps Liquor and Greg Lynn Jewelers (in July 2017, both were hit on the same night). But Woody’s had been at Flagler Plaza, crime-free, since 1998.

Sooner or later all the low life’s that live here will break into every store, just a matter of time. They don’t want to work for a living, they just want to steal.

Local Support Rally!! This story jogged my memory, when used to live in Halifax plantation down Old kings we would eat there every Thursday, a kid can eat free w/ an adult on that night and we took advantage often. Haven’t been there since I moved to F section but now Im salivating for their combo they did a brisket, smoked sausage and rib platter for pretty cheap considering my kid eating smoked turkey & fries for free and so good. If they get a new cash drawer I’ll put some money in it soon!

A few months ago Subway shop & another business nearby on Winn-Dixie plaza off Palm Coast parkway were broken into. The video was available, 3 traveling guys were caught on I-95 within hours. Guess what? They are all out again, smashing other windows somewhere. We put people to jail for minor marijuana possession which hurt nobody but real crime goes unpunished. Its so ridiculous! The whole system is malfunctioning.

  8. Really says:

NO ONE on Wall Street went to jail a few years back when the housing market collasped. Its not just the LOW LIFES (code for poor people) in Palm Coast.

Scott didn’t go to jail when he made his millions off Medicare….Robbery is Robbery! Maybe one of these people that are smashing windows will run for Governor…..qualified!

About as soon as they lock up all the corrupt politicians. Hold your breath.

  12. mark101 says:

They surely didn’t rob it for the BBQ.

  13. EJR says:

Its a true shame of the society we live in today. As everyday passes it gets worse and worse. The title of the article reinforces that as it describes it being such a feat for not being robbed prior to this in the past 18 years.
