Saturday evening, Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies got a report of a confrontation in the Mondex, or Daytona North, involving weapons. No one would end up arrested, but an investigation is continuing into claims that an assault weapon was brandished, shots fired and threats made.
The incident centered on the property at 2345 Blueberry Street, where deputies were met by “a hysterical female” when they first got there, according to an incident report. All deputies took cover while one of the deputies commanded all residents in the house to exit so they could be in full view and taken into custody.
“Shortly after we began challenging the individuals,” the incident report states, “Corporal [Jon] Dopp arrived on scene and pulled his marked patrol vehicle up to our location to provide cover. Corporal Dopp took all subjects into custody and separated all subjects into different vehicles until they could be interviewed.
The incident report is heavily censored, as the investigation is still ongoing. But from what information was not censored, the interviews relayed that at about 6:20 p.m., Cody Iglesias, a 24-year-old resident of Canal Avenue in the same region, pulled into the driveway at the Blueberry Street property, where John Shannon Driggers and Cheyenne Donaldson live. He was there, the incident report states, “to visit his associates.”
Then a red Ford F-150, a late 1990s model with an extended cab pick-up pulled up. Donna Somners was at the wheel. An individual whose name is censored from the report, along with a man known only as “West,” were in the back seat of the truck. The unnamed individual got out of the truck with an AR-15, the assault weapon similar to those used in recent mass shootings.
“It is unclear what the initial conversation was about,” the report states, “however all parties state that [the individual] repeatedly yelled that [Iglesias] robbed him and he was tired of [Iglesias] doing that to him. Duringthis confrontation, [the individual] pointed the AR-15 in [Iglesias’s] face and informed him that he was going to do something about [Iglesias] robbing him. [The individual] fired a round at an undetermined location. At this time, [Donaldson, 32] ran out towards the road from the backyard with a shotgun to see what the issue was.” (Donaldson, Driggers and Iglesias all have arrest records on minor charges.)
Donaldson told the alleged assailant that he needed to leave, not being welcomed at her residence, though soon Driggers took the shotgun away from her. The man got agitated, said he had business to handle. Driggers warned him to leave the property or he’d shoot, the report states. The man fled the property on foot.
According to Driggers’s neighbors, Driggers pointed his shotgun at the man and fired a round, the report states, but no shell casings were found matching the weapon. One other name is mentioned in the report: Spencer Sarmento, a Canal Avenue resident with a lengthy arrest record in Flagler. But the name appears at the end of a long, censored section of the report.

The AR-15 is NOT an assault weapon. STOP the BS. It is simply a scary looking (to some) semi automatic rifle. FlaglerLive you should know better. We depend on you for truth.
The AR in “AR-15” rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. “AR” does NOT stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle.” AR-15-style rifles are NOT “assault weapons” or “assault rifles.” An assault rifle is fully automatic, switchable from AUTOMATIC to SEMI automatic. — a machine gun.
FlaglerLive says
Instigator, we’re not going to play those games here. The AR-15 is an assault weapon. End of story.
Knightwatch says
Bulls sh*t Instigator. The AR-15 is the civilian version of the M-16, the Vietnam-era assault rifle. While not sold as an automatic weapon, the parts to make it fully automatic are easily found on the net. Even as a semi-automatic, it can spray up to 30 deadly rounds in roughly 15 seconds. The shooter in Dallas had one and shot 12 armed police officers, killing five, before they could effectively respond. The shooter in Orlando had one and shot over 100 people, killing 49 of them. before he could be cornered. The shooter in San Bernardino killed 14 people with one of these weapons.
Do you really want to lecture us on your inane (and rather insane) differentiation between a deadly automatic, rifle designed for war as opposed to its equally deadly semi-automatic knock-off? Do you really want to trivialize the lives that were taken with this weapon of mass destruction by convincing yourself that it’s somehow acceptable to be killed with an “Armalite-15 as opposed to an AR-15? After all, it’s “not an assault weapon”. But those people are still very dead.
I wonder if all of those innocent dead people could still speak, would they agree with you that the Armalite-15 is a perfectly fine weapon to carry on our streets?

Military weapons have that the capability of semi-automatic, three round burst and full-automatic, are Assault Weapos. The story below explains that. By the way civilians cannot purchase Military style Assault Weapons because they have already been banned.

I’d be more afraid of a baseball bat or a golf club or a damn crow than a little AR-15 rifle because you can do more damage with one or two blows to the skull versus a tiny ass .223 round. That’s why the go to weapon for home defense will never be an AR-15, with that in mind I would rather get shot by one of those so called assault rifles rather than taking a hammer to the squash. Plus the mondex operates on a totally different set of rules, different way of life. Kind of like the R section of Palm Coast, or is it the P section, I don’t know.

Thank you Knightwatch!!! How incredibly cruel and despicable that anyone could slice and dice the “names” of different types of weapons of MASS MURDER! What is this world coming to?
We need all automatic and SEMI automatic weapons off the streets NOW! Call your state and federal legislators!

Do not mess with the crazy hillbillies in the Mondex !
Robert Joseph Fortier says
The majority of us out here are not hillbillies. As home and land prices soar, most losers will not be able to afford it out here. By the way, most of us are decent working people, or retired, and are great neighbors. One problem is that our courts continue to release the worst people with no or low bail. But with all the new homes being built out here, it is getting more difficult for losers to afford to live here.
Winny says
Kightwatch, your missing the point. I don’t want to read half the story as it relates to the weapon. I want to read about the offender so I know exactly who to keep an I on. Don’t put words in people’s mouths, no one here is attempting to down play anything that happened in Dallas.
fuck this says
I live next door with a six year old who happened to be outside playing when this happened we personally saw the suspect that is still running free openly run down our street with the weapon still drawn for something not to have been done about this is absolutely insanity people are shooting and still walking but someone gets caught driving on a suspended and straight to jail . Remind you the suspect in question is out on bond for doing the same thing a couple months ago, the people are so strung out on drugs that they are just running crazy and are not being punished for it at all,

Thank you!

As a 18 year Vet and a retired LEO, there is no logical reason for anyone to own an assault style rifle. There has been too many deaths at the hands of the punks using these weapons within the US. I’m all for the second amendment, but I really don’t think our nations fathers meant these types of weapons. These weapons were designed to do one thing and that purpose is the hunting of humans in war.. Get rid of them.
Robert Joseph Fortier says
Mine sits peacefully in my home and doesn’t even know how to shoot someone….that is up to the operator.
A person is either an idiot, cruel, violent…or they are not. It’s the people, not the rifle. But I do believe that it should not be easy to obtain any type of firearm and background checks should be taken seriously.

Instigator.
Thank you for the clarification on what the AR stands for. Any weapon can be called an assault weapon. All depends on the intent. baseball bat, knife, rock, or the car you drive. Assault is the act carried out by a person not the object.

Knightwatch, the only way for a Semi-automatic rifle to fire 30 rounds in 15 seconds as you say, takes hours of training. The majority of people who purchase AR-15s legally would be lucky to fire 10 rounds in 15 seconds. Also, the fact of it being SEMI-AUTOMATIC, has absolutely nothing with the lethality of the weapon. A bolt-action .30-30 or .30-06 is capable of being shot at the same rate of fire if the shooter trains long enough. It’s really no surprise you have no idea what’re you’re talking about as I get the impression that you’ve never held a firearm in your hands, never mind actually firing one. You’re more than welcome to join me for a day on the range and I would be more than happy to help you educate yourself about firearms, without charge nonetheless. I would really hate to see you continue to argue about a subject you know nothing about. Did you know that I can buy a Barrett .50 caliber bolt-action rifle from a gun store, legally. Yet, you’re taking issue over AR-15s that shoot either .223/5.56 or .308/7.62, both of which are far less powerful than the .50 caliber. Please, learn about the subject before you attempt to make a point.
