Immediately following an annual softball tournament between local firefighters and law enforcement officers last weekend, the members of the Flagler County Professional Firefighters’ Association were able to give a little back to a local charity.
After winning last year’s tournament, the FCPFFA was given the honor of selecting a local charity as the recipient of the proceeds generated from the registration fees. After careful consideration and recommendations from Flagler County Commissioners Frank Meeker and Nate McLaughlin, the Grace Community Food Pantry was chosen to receive the donation.
At the conclusion of the tournament, FCPFFA president Steve Palmer, Flagler County Sherriff Jim Manfre and the two commissioners presented Pastor Silano with a $1,000 check from the Flagler County Sheriffs Office PAL organization, to assist in strengthening their outreach into the community.
“It feels great to give back,” said Flagler County Professional Firefighters’ Association president Steve Palmer. “It is very gratifying to help out an organization that works so hard to do genuine good right here at home.”
