Flagler Sheriff’s deputies conducted extra patrols on local roads and waterways during the recent Memorial Day weekend. The extra patrols were conducted beginning Friday, May 23 and ended Monday, May 26.
By the conclusion of the holiday weekend, deputies had conducted 295 traffic stops, issued 50 citations and 107 written warnings, made 7 DUI arrests, 1 BUI (biking under the influence) arrest and 9 other arrests.
The marine unit completed 19 stops on the Intracoastal Waterway, issued one ordinance violation to juveniles who were jumping off the Hammock Bridge and retrieved a jet ski which was adrift in the water.
“The goal of the DUI-BUI enforcement was to raise the public’s awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving while operating a motor vehicle or a boat. We encourage citizens to report dangerous drivers or boaters to the sheriff’s office,” said Sheriff Jim Manfre.

Question: Do the deputies earn time-and-a-half after 40 hours work? I hope so. Keep up the good work.

Keep up the “Good” work? 295 stops – 55 citations = 240 unjustified stops
maybe this was in retaliation for “traffic light cameras being remove from major intersections in Palm Coast where revenue is now lost – http://www.mynews13.com/content/news/cfnews13/news/article.html/content/news/articles/cfn/2014/3/20/some_red_light_camer.html
i am definitely not saying there should have been 295 citations, BUT I am implying that only five out of six people “stopped” where harassed which is against the law(s) of the land (the US Constitution and Bill of Rights)
If the “police” were the same as a dog that protected county property, they would have bitten 245 people that didn’t deserve to be bitten (these “dogs” need to be taken out of service and replaced with “peace officers”

I hate commenting on here, especially since I am a Flagler County Deputy who has put my life on the line more times than I want to remember over the years, but Abused by Police, really? Have you ever thought that we have compassion and can’t stand writing every violation of the law we see because the fines have gotten so out of control thanks to our legislators. We are husbands and wife’s trying to make an honest living protecting our civilized way of life for not only our families, but also for yours. As far as the red light cameras, the Sheriff’s Office has nothing to do with them, but as an officer, I approve of them 150%. When you have a family member involved in a crash where they did nothing wrong, but the shitbag that caused the wreck blames your family member, you better hope that there is a red light camera to tell the truth. (Because most witnesses won’t even bother to stop and give a statement. Just my two cents.

Abused….
Your math wrong, and your post are insane.
The article said “295 traffic stops, issued 50 citations and 107 written warnings….”
So, 157 people, almost 50% or 5 out of 10 people received either a ticket or warning, 16 were arrested. Just because someone is stopped does not mean they will receive a ticket. They are let go. They were probably let go because they were not impaired and had all their paperwork in order. As an officer myself, I’ve stopped many cars for a variety of infractions. When I found that the driver was the DD, I didn’t give them any tickets what-so-ever. You must be one that go a ticket.
