In preparation for Tropical Storm Dorian, local governments are setting up accessible locations for the public to get free sandbags and sand. This information will be updated accordingly.
The Flagler County Jail Inmate Work Crew is available at all three Flagler County sand locations Friday (Aug. 30), to help fill sandbags for residents. They will be available from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. as long as the weather permits and supplies are available. The Flagler County sandbag locations are:
• The Old Jail site at Utility Street and Old Moody Boulevard.
• Hidden Trails Community Center, 6108 Mahogany Blvd, Bunnell, in Daytona North.
• Malacompra Park, 115 Malacompra Road, Palm Coast in the Hammock.
Palm Coast government has sand and sandbags available for residents at several locations. Palm Coast sand stations are self-serve: residents should bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill the bags themselves.
Empty sandbags (but no sand) are available during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at:
Palm Coast City Hall, 160 Lake Ave., Palm Coast
Palm Coast Utility Department, 2 Utility Drive, Palm Coast
A self-service sand station and sandbags are available during daylight hours at:
· Palm Coast Public Works Yard, 1 Wellfield Grade, off U.S. 1 just north of Palm Coast Parkway, Palm Coast.
Sand, but no sandbags, is available at these locations:
Indian Trails Sports Complex, 5455 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast
Seminole Woods Neighborhood Park, 350 Sesame Blvd., Palm Coast
The county will make sandbags available Thursday. Sand is currently available at:
Malacompra South Beach Parking Lot, on Malacompra Rd.
Old Jail Site at Utility St and Old Moody Blvd.
Hidden Trails Community Center.
Sandbags with bagging assistance will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Thursday at Malacompra Park, South Parking Lot.
·       Bunnell: The City of Bunnell will have sandbags from 9 am to 3 PM at the Bunnell Public Works yard located at 300 Toleman Street. There is a limit of eight bags per car.
·       Flagler Beach: Sandbags are at the Fire Department and at Santa Maria Del Mar.
The county’s call center is now operational 24 hours at 386-586-5111.
