A head-on crash at the intersection of Old Kings Road and State Road 100 in Palm Coast this morning sent two adults and an infant to the hospital.

The crash took place a little before 9:30. Authorities at the scene said a parent had just dropped off her child at Old Kings Elementary, and was driving her blue Ford Focus north on Old Kings, with an infant in the car. An older man was driving a gray Dodge Charger south on Old Kings.

One of the two drivers broke the other’s right of way. The Focus appeared to have been making a left turn to go west on SR100 while the Charger was continuing south on Old Kings. The two vehicles collided almost just south of the center of the intersection, blocking eastbound lanes on 100. The Charger’s airbags deployed.

The infant is not believed to have been injured, but was sent to nearby AdventHealth Palm Coast as a precaution.

Flagler County Fire Rescue sent two rescues to the scene. The Palm Coast Fire Department and the Palm Coast Fire Police also responded, as had the sheriff’s office, with the Florida Highway Patrol due to take over the investigation. Traffic was snarled on 100’s westbound lanes but not seriously.

Support FlaglerLive's End of Year Fundraiser
Thank you. Because of you, we’ve reached and exceeded our $10,000 goal—and that’s no small thing. It’s a powerful show of support for independent, local journalism. With your continued help, we’re hoping to match (and, if possible, exceed) last year’s contributions of nearly $13,000 before 2026 greets us. Asking tough questions is increasingly met with hostility. The political climate—nationally and right here in Flagler County—is at war with fearless reporting. Officials and powerbrokers often prefer echo chambers to accountability. They want news that flatters, not news that informs. They want stenographers. We give them journalism. After 16 years, you know FlaglerLive won’t be intimidated. We dig. We don’t sanitize to pander or please. We report reality, no matter who it upsets. Even you. Imagine Flagler County without that kind of local coverage: no one sitting through long meetings, no one connecting the dots, no one asking the follow-up questions others won’t. Decisions would be made in the dark, with fewer eyes watching and fewer facts reaching the public. Silence would be easier—for them. But standing up to this kind of pressure requires resources. It requires a community that values courage over comfort. Stand with us, and help us hold the line. Fund the journalism they don’t want you to read. There’s no paywall—but it’s not free. Take a moment and become a champion of enlightening journalism. Any amount helps. FlaglerLive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit news organization, and donations are tax deductible.

Making left turns at this spot and also 100 and Seminole woods are extremely dangerous. Have avoided many instances myself at these intersections only because I was paying attention and driving defensively.

Seriously folks, no pun intended, but you need to focus on driving while operating a vehicle.

This wouldn’t have happened if there were a roundabout there.

The problem stems from those turning left coming from Old Kings Elementary. THEY ROUTINELY do not wait to make safe turns LEFT, and feel that the road is their private right of way. I drove this route daily for 5 years and seen it DAILY from those turning LEFT. Maybe a Longer turn arrow is in order and an arrow at all. Once it turns red NO LEFT TURNS.

    Hopefully all will recover OK

I want to take a minute and throw this out there. I drive a lot for my job. My territory ranges from South Side Jax to Daytona Beach Shores. The amount of distracted/aggresive driving out there is saddening to say the least.

Several years ago my company instituted a very strict policy in regards to using phones/devices and distracted driving. No texting at all and voice only by handsfree when it’s safe to do so. If you cause an accident and distracted/aggresive driving was at play you are terminated immediatley. No questions asked.

Yesterday like many other days I entered the 25 zone on A1A. I had a driver tailgating so close I could not see his lights. He then kept flashing and honking making signs to speed up. Finally he passed me on a double yellow and gave me the middle finger. And for what? A 10 second lead? Was it really worth it? You leaving late and being in a hurry isn’t my responsability. I’m not catching a ticket or hurting someone so you can arrive on time. Plan better.

We all need to take the time to put those devices down. Slow down and obey traffic laws. And above all show some respect and courtesy. it goes a long way to making EVERYONE safe.

And just as a fun fact. Those rectangular white signs with black numbers are speed limit signs. That’s a state law easily enforcable. They aren’t suggestions.

No light or rotary needed, simply follow the rules and laws of driving. Imagine that people going by the rules and laws…….

Concerned citizen – Same thing happened to me last night around the Marineland area. It is 35mph through there and some fancy Audi came rolling up behind me in my very small Miata. The driver was aggressively swerving back and forth behind me and as a female alone driving at 9:30pm, I was getting scared. I didn’t want to pull over for that very reason. The driver finally shipped around me and floored it (I could smell his car for at least half a mile). I don’t know if the person was on something or just a genuine jerk but for God’s sakes people…. slow down or pass when you’re able to. Just because I want to abide by laws and not get a ticket shouldn’t enrage you. The area you are referring to on A1A is terrible too. So many jerks. I live beachside and we need a MUCH bigger police presence through there. I hardly ever see any cops patrolling.
