Buddy Walk in Town Center Canceled, Creekside Festival Goes On

October 8, 2011 | FlaglerLive | 1 Comment

It'll be dropping in all weekend.

A weekend of heavy rain and wind is forcing the cancellation or postponement of many events scheduled in Flagler County.

The Fun Coast Down Syndrome Association’s sixth annual Buddy Walk, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Palm Coast’s Town Center, has been canceled, with no make-up date. Supporters can still have a voice by contributing to the association’s fund-raising goal for the year, which is $20,000. The association was about $2,000 short of that goal earlier this week. You can contribute here.

The third annual Great Bed Race in Flagler Beach, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been rescheduled for Dec. 3. Details here.

The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce’s Creekside Festival has been neither cancelled nor postponed: it’s going on this weekend, starting Saturday morning, whatever the rains may bring.

Next the comments of some of our county businesses and residents regarding the arrogant, selfish, insensitive Flagler County Chamber of Commerce, not caring to cancel or postpone the Creekside Festival due to this stormy wheather :

Their greed and self serving goals are not even approved by Mother Nature. Too bad for all those businesses that pay dearly for those booths and probably won’t get their money back. Remember who you are dealing with, for the next time. “Great miss representation for these commissioners” that force us all to lend our public land for this private organization FCCO(U)C profitting from these events and manipulating our local political campaigns at the same time on site, year after year.
