Devan Bozeman, 16, Killed in Single-Car Wreck Near Lake City Early Saturday (Feb. 5)

Devan A. Bozeman, a 16-year-old high school student, was traveling south early this morning (Feb. 5) on State Road 247, just under 12 miles south of Lake City, when his 1993 Ford Ranger left the road and crashed against a tree, killing Bozeman, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

It isn’t clear why Bozeman, of Branford, Fla., drove off the road. The crash took place at 5 a.m. The highway patrol’s investigation shows the Ford swerving to the left onto the northbound lane and continuing to travel in a southwesterly direction off the road until the vehicle struck a berm, which caused it to go airborne and rotate clockwise to the right. The Ford then struck a large oak tree on the side of the road, on the driver’s side door.

Suwanee County emergency personnel pronounced Bozeman dead at the scene.

A Florida Highway Patrol report incorrectly reported Bozeman’s first name as Devon. It listed his age as being 16. Devan’s MySpace page, however, lists him as 18. If anyone has valuable, additional information about Devan, please contribute it in the comments. We are trying to confirm that he was a student at Branford High School.
