Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Deputy First Class (DFC) Daniel LaVerne was awarded the 2021 Distinguished Victim Services Award during a virtual version of the annual Victim’s Rights Week Ceremony hosted by Attorney General Ashley Moody.
The Distinguished Victim Services Award recognizes law enforcement and victim’s advocates who have made extraordinary efforts in assisting and protecting crime victims. DFC LaVerne was nominated for this prestigious award for his role in a juvenile sexual offense case that occurred in 2020. DFC LaVerne went above and beyond to serve the victims of the case and thanks to his determination and attention to detail he was able to determine the identity of the victims and ensure that the suspect faced a lengthy prison sentence.
DFC Detective LaVerne began his career with the FCSO in November of 2013. During his time with the FCSO, he has won numerous awards including Unit Citations and multiple Commendation Awards. DFC LaVerne has previously been a member of the FCSO SWAT team and is currently assigned to the Investigative Services Division in the Major Case Unit.
“In Flagler County, we take victim rights seriously,” Sheriff Staly said. “I want to thank Attorney General Ashley Moody for selecting Deputy First Class Detective LaVerne for this award. DFC LaVerne is hardworking, and makes protecting the victims of a crime just as much as a priority as arresting the perpetrators. I think he is very deserving of this recognition!” For more information on crime victim services offered by the Florida Attorney General’s Office, click here. Nice stories about Sheriff LaVerne in Palm Coast surprise me as he’s been nothing but horrible when I went to his office. Very recently I discovered that BAnk of America has put erroneous, negative damaging reports on credit pretending that I owe them money. In fact, they owe me several thousand dollars that I’ve been trying to get back since 2018 when I lost the credit card with the credit balance on it. They pretend they sent me a check, even sent a statement showing a check number, but no check. They called it a Fraud Adj check and then said I could not have my own money deposited largely by Social Security because I coudn’t prove there was fraud. I never said there was. I paid local attorney Vincent Sullivan with Chiumento Law to get my money back. First he demanded $200 cash to discuss then with evidence in hand he asked for $300 more to proceed. After taking money from my friend Richard on a credit card Sullivan said, ‘I don’t want to help you and you can’t have your money back.” He could have said he didn’t want to help when I called. Next I tired going to court ProSe…three times, but local Judge Totten refused to look at my evidence to where Richard who was with me was so horrified by the corruption and fraud that he had a stroke right there in court from which he later died. Now, I’m being dunned by Bank of America for the money they’ve owed me for 8 years. Finally, I went to Sheriff LaVerne’s office on Old Kings Rd where a deputy Parker wanted to help until Laverne came out screaming for him to stop. If I robbed the bank I’d be in trouble, but the bank robbing me is no problem. LaVerne imagines there is an agency that helps people with bank robberies, but I’ve submitted my complaint with hard evidence to the Office of Protective Services for Citizens 22 times. The bank simply ignores them. so, there is absolutely no law enforcement that helps senior citizens being ripped off. The sheriff should be replaced by someone who isn’t kissing up to big business hurting citizens.
